I know I've read reports on here of between 500 and 1000 so I ink it depends if it's the insert or bezel and insert. Insert and labor is likely slightly north of 500.

Have to agree and just for a thin slither of ceramic which is made from zirconium dioxide or zirconia which costs around $800 a metric ton..

To be fair Peter. I could give you a ton of zirconium dioxide and you still wouldn't have a Rolex ceramic bezel.

About the same as the parachrom its not the metal cost its the development then tooling up to make the product thats the real cost. When you have the tooling then you can make them as many as you want..Now Rolex introduced the parachrom in 2000 with the cal 4130,ask yourself this if it was so fantastic why has it taken Rolex so long take to introduce into there complete line up.And ceramic has been around for well over 2000 years the Chinese was making it with very simple stuff like a pile of twigs for a furnace. Now when you look at today's computers and equipment ceramic is ceramic no matter what fancy name you call it.

It costs how much it costs.

The pros and cons of ceramic vs non ceramic bezel inserts have been discussed in other threads.

The cost of replacement is obviously a disadvantage of the ceramic.

Well, I won't make a direct line from pottery to high- tech ceramics.
I am sure that you know what eg IWC says in that regard.

The prices for both - the AL and C inserts are laughable compared to their raw materials but that applies to many products ( just think about your computer's components)
