On the fence...
Hi all,
I have been thinking about getting an AP rubberclad for quite some time now. Today , I had the opportunity to try one on, and i wasnt that impressed. Over the last few month i have been marveling at photos and wrist shots, day dreaming of the moment i owned a ROO rubber. I dont really know what is was that turned me off . maybe it was the feel of the rubber strap that felt more like plastic to me . maybe it was the fact that i have been wearing a DSSD everyday now for a couple of months, and in comparison the rubberclad felt like a swatch on my wrist. i dont really know where this post is going so maybe you can guide me somehow. should i abandone my pursuit of an AP and turn my attention to another rolex ( I Probably shouldnt of have posted on an AP forum)? Opinions ? Any other AP references in my price range that might tickle my fancy? Below is a wrist shot. What do you guys think? Sorry for the crappy phone pics, its all i had at that moment. |

I don't think AP's are for everyone. I think you need to build your appreciation naturally, there is no reason to push it just because other people like the watch. Find something that really sings to you and you won't regret it.

Panda on hornback...I thought a black RC would do the trick for me initially, but after seeing the details on that metal bezel, i had to have it!

I agree with you on the Rubberclad. It's not for everyone. I bought a Diver a month and a half ago and I love it. I was debating for a few weeks between a RC or a Diver and I decided to go with the latter. Sporty, classic, sturdy and just gorgeous! Try one on and you'll love it. The strap material is not Rubberclad but a different composite that is firmer and sturdier. Really nice.

If you want something that measures up to the heft of a DSSD, get a Panda on bracelet. The Diver is also a great option - the rubber is 1000x better than the standard rubber strap.

Well, i notice your RC is the older version. You may want to try the newer version which is much better imo.
I was torn between the new RC and Diver like Mr H too. But eventually I picked Diver. After i bought that diver, i pretty much left my rollie, pam and iwc in my drawer most of the time...lol |

How about a Diver with bracelet? Best of both worlds! It's not for me personally, but I think it's a great looking piece.

All suggestions are great, However imo i think the RC is one of the most classic ROO's.
