Couple of questions on the 114270 -

I am on the hunt for one of these; I view it as the most elegent Rolex sportwatch for its simplicity - of course to each, his or her own. At 36mm, it also fits my smallish wrists.

A few questions - when did Rolex stop making it - the most recent I've seen is an M serial? Also, when did the engraved bezel appear: again, I'm only aware of the M serial having it. Finally - any particular issues with these watch to be aware of?

Thanks; as always, this forum is a wonderful resource.

Great choice buddy. Can;t really answer your question beyond what you know. I'm picking up a 2005 D serial in two weeks time. Its a simple watch with a proven movement so just ensure its genuine I guess

I got my random no. just over 12 months ago. I knew straight away this watch will be one of those watch in my collection that I will past on to the next generation. I bought a black leather strap and it looks perfect with suit and tie!

Confirm what ValleryCl said about the end of the production run - you probably know that it was replaced by the 39mm 214270. I've had mine (114270) for two years now and have experienced no problems whatsoever. It runs at a consistant +2secs/day and in my book it's not worth even considering regulation at that level - just set it 15secs. slow and reset a couple of weeks later. As you said, it is beautifully plain and elegant. Is it possible that there are still one or two new ones lurking with some A.D?

It (36mm expl.) is my most comfy stainless steel watch.
