Some new Casual Shoes for Summer

Just got a new pair of Boat shoes via Fedex a bit ago. I have been searching for a good quality pair and came across these (even though I don't own a boat lol). Rancourt is a company out of Maine and all of their shoes are handcrafted. They are MTO but it only took a little over 2 weeks to receive them. You just print out a handy little "fit kit" on their website and measure yourself.

They are very comfortable right out of the box and fully rebuildable when the time comes. I must say they are a HUGE step up from the Sperry Topsiders I had previously. The quality is outstanding. I'm in no way affiliated with the company, I just thought I would give a heads up for anyone looking for some nice casual shoes if you haven't heard of them. They also have many other styles and options available.

great stuff. I have a pair of Quoddy, and it is one of my favorite casual shoes. Sadly, it got really really popular for the past couple years. So the price went up, and the wait is really long now.

When doing research on these shoes I came across Quoddy as well. And while they look like wonderful quality, I also heard the wait was much longer as you mentioned. And I'm impatient...

I haven't seen anyone wearing those here in California for at least 15 years.

I guess it's mainly a easy coast thing. Although they are quite popular down here in the south as well!

The good old "Sperry Topsider" look.......if you haven't seen them on the west coast...you are old....the young college/high school kids in Calif. are wearing them now.

Those look like exact duplicates of my Sperry topsiders!
Out of interest what makes them a “HUGE step up”?

Just the overall build quality is night and day. Sperry originated in Maine as well I believe, but have since been produced in China. Although I believe they still have a line that is made domestically, and I have heard they are good as well.

Sperry shoes fall apart so quickly - cheap quality.

Thank you so much for posting this.

There has been a resurgence of American shoe manufacturers,
and it is great to find another source for USA shoes.

Those look really nice and I've heard good things about Rancourt & Co. Another couple of options are yuketen and quoddy. All are handmade in the NorthEast. I think Eastland has a handmade line too now called Eastland of Maine.

For me Sperrys last less than a year with regular/consistant use. The handmade route should give at least double or triple the life with many pieces being repairable if you choose to do so.
