1st PAM.. 312 or 351? Any suggestions? :)
Hi, I'm a new member here. I live in Singapore. I'd like to ask you guys about 312 and 351. At the first time I saw Panerai, I'm in love with 111, but then my cousin convinced me to look for the in-house movement, so the SA in Panerai Boutique Singapore recommended me 312, 320, and 351. I like the 312 and been considered about it for 2 months. I went to HK and again compare the 312 and 351 in the Panerai Boutique there. I really confused whether to go for a SS, black, silver hands 312 or Titanium, tobacco, gold hands 351. To be honest I like the gold hands, but then I want to ask for suggestions from you guys, who is more expert in Panerai. :) is titanium is better then SS in term of the durability and the scratch resistant? Is tobacco is truly a "NEW" black? Thanks guysss... Really appreciate any comments. I really need your helps to make me sure which one of them should I buy next month. Hv a great day!
Cheers, Robert |

Both are nice. The watch is kind of bulky so I'd probably opt for the lighter 351. I think polished steel shows scratches a little more than Ti. Tobacco v black dial is strictly personal preference: black is probably more versatile but I like the brown as well.

Welcome Robert
Of the three models you mention, my preference would be... 1. 320 2. 312 3. 351 I generally find titanium too light, although the 351 is still quite a hefty watch I prefer the 320 to the 312 (although it costs more) because it has some useful & interesting features over the 312 - the power reserve indicator (neatly on the back of the movement), the 'zero reset' stop-seconds, and of course the second time zone. When not in use, the second hour hand can be hidden behind the primary hour hand to maintain a clean look

If u are going to go 320,then you might as well consider topping up abit to get 321..power reserve, date, gmt, inhsemovement, seethru saphire caseback.....u wont go wrong with a 321.....that is if ur considering 320....but bet 312 n 321.....then the price diff is abit more....

The only difference between the 320 and 321 is that the power reserve indicator is on the dial of the 321 (and the second hour hand is black rather than silver). Imho this spoils the clean look of the watch. There is only a $200 difference in price between the two

Hi Robert,
I'm also from Sg. :) welcome welcome I got the 351 as my first PAM, and I feel it was an excellent choice. Was considering a base Pam or a submersible, but finally followed my heart to get the 351. My only complaint is that being fickle, I find that straps are not as easy to match as the black dials, but there are definitely more than enough choices of straps to choose from, so other than that it's a great watch. My other watches arr not getting any wrist time after the 351 was bought. The tobacco + gold hands combi is just excellent. Either way, you won't stop at 1, I'm sure. Hope to save up for a 190 soon. |

312 in my biased opinion. I chose it because the movement is in-house, has the foundational features (date, seconds), and can match well with both cool/black and earth/brown color tones. Truly an everyday watch!

I tried the 351 (and 352) on a couple times at the AD, and although I love the look, I can't get over the lightness of titanium. I wanted a Pam to feel as substantial as it appears, and Ti jaut felt too light for me.
I ended up going with a 372, which has the steel case but also gold hands and dark tobacco dial. Slightly bigger and more expensive than 312/351... But wears very nicely. |

I love the black dial of the 312, as it is more versatile than the tobacco dial, but man do I love those gold hands... I wish they made the 312 with gold hands... I CAN'T CHOOSE!!!

My first PAM was a 351. Incredibly light for the size. I second got a 112. Not nearly as thick but about the same weight. I'd think the 312 would be uncomfortably heavy & bulky for me. The tobacco dial is killer on the 351. In the end, it really depends on your own preference. Let us know how it works out.

I prefer black dial for the versatility. LOVE my 312 as far as the weigh its heavy and it sat pretty nice on my wrist.

351 gets my vote too. But at the end of the day, aside from esthetics or looks, given both watches have the same movement, it would all boil down to what is more pleasant to your eyes. As what they say in any watch forum, "pick the one that sings to you the most". Hope this helps, and good luck!

320 for me! If you have slim wrists it may look too thick/chunky - so consider also the slimmer 233.

Sure guys.. I don't really need GMT so that either 312 or 351.. In your opinion guys, if i take one of those PAM in Europe, as i'll travel to Europe next month, is it cheaper to buy in Swiss / Paris / Italy? Thanks guys.. :)

The 351 is superb, the Ti is approx 40% lighter than steel but that doesnt make the watch 40% lighter more like 22% but it wears so well and never feels heavy or top wobbly. I personally chose the 352 as the Ti bracelet is a work of art and so comfortable, I know Pams are a dream on straps but for a few quid more to have the choice of the bracelet occasionally is awesome.

Such a hard choice. I had a 312 and loved it. But if I had both in front of me and had to choose one I'd pick the 351 because I like the combination. I think the only strap color that wouldn't go with it is black. But you can always wear a dark brown leather or dk brown gator. I've flipped a few before and learned to get the one YOU like the best. So put that first and foremost in your decision, bro.
