SURVEY - WHICH ROLEX (S) TO KEEP FOREVER? Which two are the most "collectable"?

Hi everyone,
I currently have a Sea-Dweller 16600, Explorer II (16570 Polar), and am in the market to purchase a 16610LV (M series) very soon from a friend of a friend. My dilemma is this -
if/when I get the LV, at some point in the near future, I would almost certainly have to part with one of these. For this survey, please lend me your wise input and rank the above three in order of importance based on style, "collectable" factor, if any (read, future value etc.) and whatever else you see fit. Please go on the premise that I will most likely only keep two of these. They are all in very good to mint condition. Thanks in advance as your input will help me choose and/or whether I even purchase the LV.

Who knows if Rolex will even be collectible in the future? Markets/tastes change. My advice would be to keep the two that you enjoy the most

Out of those 3, I would personally get rid of the LV -- sorry, mate!

Forever is a long time and collectible is a very subjective term.

IMHO, keep and wear what you like.

I may just pick up a NOS 16610LV for kicks in the near future. The new one is NICE but it may be WAY too green for me.
Want to hear something funny? I sold an F serial 16610 YEARS ago when they were in production and wasnt too much of a premium

Which would I keep? The trio I got on my winder now includes a 1680 Red - I doubt ill sell that unless someone offers me significantly more than what i paid. Too nice

Get what you like, dont speculate on future value - youll be wrong 100% of the time

No modern Rolex is 'collectable' at this stage. Historically, the models that have increased the most in value are the most unloved at the time. ie the Daytona's were never popular until Paul Newman wore one, and the Milgauss nobody bought at all.

All of the ones you have, are pretty popular, so I doubt they will ever become truly collectible.

I don't know about future values, but I'd keep the divers if it was up to me

Get or keep what pieces speak to you. But, personally, I would keep what you have, which are both great pieces. If you have to have the sub, I would dump the SD since they are both dive watches and similar styles. That being said, I love my SD and could never part with it.

Why buy if tou are going to sell anyway...
Better sell one first.. And then get the lv if you really want it..

I'd say that you have to find a way to keep all three...that is a nice TRIO.
If not then depending on wrist size either the Explorer or SeaDweller...which ever one doesn't make you smile as much...

Have to agree Chris you should buy Rolex watches to wear and own and enjoy, its not all about $$$££££££ and being thought of as just will it be collectible.

Chris, once again you wrote something that couldn't be more true!

- Take a look at your watches...
- Find the ones you really enjoy and would love to wear everyday...
- Wear and enjoy them everyday!

I never buy 'toys' based on possible collectible or resale value. Unless you are trying to make a living out of it, the values/appreciation involved is usually trivial.
Buy something you really dig and keep it forever.

As always, great advice.

Keeping a watch that you might not like for years and years on the offchance that it might rise in value seems to me to be a waste of time. Even if the price does go up, how much can you make on one current production model watch?

It only makes good investment sense to me if the owner originally bought 20-30 watches and sells all IF the price rises.

I wouldn't use "collectiblity" as a factor

Of the 3 mentioned I would keep the LV and SD.
Have you thought of maybe giving one of the newer ceramic models a try??
