Can't decide - 16613 vs 116613 Blue

I have previously owned the 16613 blue and loved the blue dial. I was out around town this weekend and had a close encounter with someone wearing a 116613 blue. It was stunning. Every time I try it on at an AD I love the new blue sub's upgrades and wrist presence. The blue is definitely different, but it is growing on me. I know other forum members have dealt with the same decision and I would love some feedback and photos.

Thanks,

Guy

I like my 16613 but the new one has some big improvements in the clasp that are hard to go past. I don't mind the maxi dial, bezel and big case either.
Some say the blue is not as nice on the new model but IMO it depends on the individual.

Just got my 16613 from DavidSW and I love it! I appreciate the multi-colored blue of the 16613 more than the solid color of the 116613. I also like the smaller and lighter clasp because of my smaller wrist. I wear it 99% of the time. It looks awesome in the sun!

Good decision! Great comparison photo to see the difference in blue as well as the size & lugs.

Personally I much prefer the 16613. Dial is much prettier and richer color. Don't mind the older clasp which are likely more durable even though it does not look or feel that way.

I had a 16613 in blue before and in my opinion, its the nicest blue dial out there. Mesmerizing to look at.

The 116613 blue will grow on you, if that's your only set back you should get it IMO.

I see this posted a lot and that's what an AD said to me as well. Why would someone spend 10k plus on a watch that will "grow on them". Shouldn't you like it from the beginning? Personally I opted for the 16613 because I like the older case and the blue better. Plus is around 5k less

My thoughts exactly. The first time I saw a 16613 on my brother's wrist, it knocked my socks off and I lusted after one for 15 years. The first time I saw a 116613 at an AD, I thought Rolex had ruined a classic. I like the Maxi-dial and the glidelock bracelet but that's it. The new blue doesn't have the same presence as the old blue in pictures or in person.

Either one in White Gold is a desire of mine to own some day.

The older blue is more attractive to me at first glance, but the newer blue is quite nice in person and I think I will probably go for the 116613 for its maxi-case and clasp.

I like the ceramic blue better though I wore a 16613 for a few years in college. IMHO they are both great peices.

I just bought the new Blue Sub-C; love it. Glidelock clasp = awesome. The blue is quite nice on the wrist, it doesn't come through in photos as good as it is in person.

You really need to see one at an AD, then decide.

This is a tough one, and one I have debated before.

I LOVE all the improvements to the new model. However . . .

The old blue was stunning, absolutely perfect. The new blue, well, not so much.

In the end, if the size/presence REALLY mattered to you, I would go with the new ceramic. If size is not an issue, I would go with the old one. It's so classic.
