1680 basking in the sun...

I never tire of looking at this 40 year old watch, and IMO it's never more impressive than when the late afternoon sun picks out the creamy lume against the beautiful matte dial. If Rolex ever improved on this wonderful combination I'm certainly not aware of it.

Nice pics and I would have to agree. I don't think of the Submariners as having improved over the years as much as they have evolved. Congrats on a beautiful example.

Yup, it really is a lovely piece. It's been on duty for the last 10 days or so now, which is more than its 'usual' rotation of around 5 days, but I just can't put it back in the case at the moment! I work in a bike shop, so it gets its fair share of (light) abuse, but these are tool watches after all, and more than capable of handling the odd knock.

Please, please tell me where in the UK were you. As here in Devon we haven't had the luxuary of seeing that yellow thing in the sky for weeks. Just rain, rain and more blo0dy rain. :(

That all said you have a lovely looking Red Sub. :)

I'm in...err, Devon. Sun 29th July was a corker, took these pics fairly late in the afternoon. Been raining pretty much ever since though...

Then gods must have been smiling down on you

Here in North Devon, the week has not been bad, but last night we had heavy rain, thunder and lightening

But let me not distract from your superb looking red.

Regards

Tony

It does look super nice! You can see T < 25 in one of the pics, and the crown is the pre-Mk6 shape so it's likely original. (or at the very least period correct)
