Tough Decision - SubC or GMT IIC

I am really struggling here. I like both the SubC - 116610LN and the GMT Master IIC 116710LN. When comparing the latest models of each, differences I know about are 100m vs 300m depth waterproof, bezel markings, GMT hand, bracelet. Questions would be: both have a glidelock bracelet in that they are easily adjustable even though the GMT clasp is shorter therefore somewhat less adjustment is available - correct? The Rolex website does not call the 78200 bracelet on the GMT a glidelock but my local AD said that indeed it is a glidelock. Do they have the same movement and engine? I certainly would believe there is more experience and knowledge on this site as opposed to the AD I spoke with so I appreciate any input you guys offer.

I thought the GMTIIC has the EZ link clasp and the SubC family are the only ones with the Glidelock clasp.

You cannot go wrong with either watch op. I had the same problem when I was out Rolex shopping, I bought the SubC. If you hang around TRF enough you will probably end up with both eventually.

Gmt has easy link not glide lock. They have different movements too since the sub does not have a gmt hand.
Both are work horses and beautiful watches IMO. If you travel often or like to track family and friends in another timezone get the gmt, if not get the sub. There really isn't a wrong choice.
Oh, as you saw at the ad the gmt has polished center links on the bracelet which makes it more flashy, but they can be brushed to look like the subs if you want.

The two watches are quite different. The GMT IIc does not have Glidelock (Glidelock is confined to just the dive watches), but it does have an updated bracelet and clasp with Easylink, which is like a more restricted version of Glidelock. You have an additional half link that can be folded in or out, and comes in handy on a hot day

The movements are different too. The Submariner uses the ageing cal. 3135, which has now been around for over 20 years, and is solid, if unspectacular. The GMT uses the cal. 3186, which was last tweaked a few years ago, and is consistently regarded as the best timekeeper in the range. The GMT complication is also pretty useful, and you won't find it better executed by any other brand - it sits within a league of its own, and, in my opinion, is as close as you can get to a perfect luxury watch. It is also, in my opinion, the finest all-rounder that Rolex produces today - tough yet dressy, and an invaluable companion if you ever find yourself abroad

The Sub, meanwhile, is pretty competitive in a crowded market - it's recent upgrade was a good step forward, but I think Rolex only did half the job by not putting a new movement in. The new Planet Ocean from Omega is a better dive watch, with a significantly better movement, for significantly less, and with double the warranty and service intervals. If you care about horology and the artistry of a movement, then the Planet Ocean is a no-brainer - the Submariner is the safe and predictable choice

IMO You will know which one once you try them both and as someone suggested to me in TRF which i am very thankful for: while you are wearing it look at the miror and you will know which looks best on your wrist.

Thanks for the input. Certainly I will buy one of the two. Ok so the GMT doesn't have the glidelock but from experience, are smallish adjustments made easily to account for weather type changes or is it not even worth getting hung up over?

IMHO, if you don't need to track time in zones other than your home, the Sub.

As a frequent flyer I really value the GMT movement and am glad that I did not go for the Sub.

However if I never or only rarely travelled I would have chosen the Sub for elegance and simplicity. It looks a bit silly when people have a GMT where all hands and the bezel are constantly set to +0.

It is a mystery to me why the GMT is cheaper than the Sub. It must I suppose be a willingness to pay issue but the key question is why is that the case.

Regarding the easy-link, it is more than sufficient to accommodate all changes in the weather here in the hot, harsh desert of the Gulf. In the winter I fasten the clasp and in the summer set it to loose.

I am really liking the PCLs on the GMTIIc. I think it's a better everyday watch for office wear. The SubC is great too. IMHO both are great and it's a personal choice. Totally up to you. I'm a huge diver but in all honesty dive watches are pretty useless. I also travel a good bit but my phone changes time zones easier than setting a GMT and the hours. IMHO both are great for what they are made for but in this day and time there are better tools than those. Just buy the one that sings to you most.

Here are some comparison photos.

GMT has slimmer lugs, fatter hour hand, thicker and different shaped case and CGs. That and the movement seems to be the biggest things I notice.
