Cartier Santos has stopped after new battery....help!!!
Hi Guys,
Replaced the battery in my wife's Santos about six months ago and the watch has stopped now. The battery was a Renata 376/377 new in sealed packet and I handled it all through the operation with plastic non-conductive tweezers. The battery came from an old dusty but trustworthy jewellers in my home town here and was factory sealed in its Renata packaging. I'm just wondering if it might have been hanging around a few years and this is why it's had a relatively very low life. Any ideas? Cheers, 316lad - |

That was my first guess James, like all other batteries it happens sometimes that you buy them and they are already (or soon-to-be) out of power. You can always try to bring it to the jeweler and have it tested, I know mine did that with my now gone Accutron when I asked him how the battery was power-wise. If it's not battery related I guess you'll have to have the watch checked and perhaps serviced but that's another story.
Keep me updated with the latest news!

I hope my piece of advice will be useful James and I especially hope it's only a battery problem!

If you have a meter you can check the battery. People seem to forget that quartz watches have mechanical parts as well. Those need to be serviced regularly also. If it's not the battery, then you're due for a service.

Yep. I'll run a meter across the battery and see. Hope it's not the movement - Cartier charge more than Rolex for a service - last one was £600. Thanks for the advice - and thanks Carl too - good PM's |
