Watches of Switzerland Bad Service and Insult
After my previous thread regarding the Rolex 114060 I decied to give it another go with lots of helpful advice from TRF members (thank you), so I went to Watches of Switzerland threadneedle street and the experince was one I wouldn't want again. The sales woman didn't know which model I was talking about till I told her and then it all seemed to much trouble to show me the watch and had no real intrest in serving me, I then said I had a Breitling to trade in and told her what model and without asking anyone said I would be lucky to get a thousand for it I said they were selling for about £2500 she told me to go to another dealer and sell it then come back and buy from them lol. If I was to go to another dealer then I would buy from them I could not beilive what she was telling me, I walked out and made a complaint to their head office. Two weeks later I get a call and they ask me to go to their Rolex botique and see if they can help, all they done was rub salt in the wound and say they would offer £1500 and that was pushing it. I then went to Ernest Jones which I know a lot of people hate but they offered me £2000 only trouble is the waiting list is three months but they will honour the price if I don't wear it, so put my name down and now await the phone call all I can say is thanks to all the TRF members who gave me postive answers to my previous thread. PS avoid Watches of Switzerland

Sounds strange. In between having to use my oxygen tent to read your post I kind of got the gist of what you were saying.
My only advice would be; take a deep breath and start again. p.s. Watches Of Switzerland are one of the good guys. |

Bad service I agree (especially that store), but I don't agree it is an insult. Every AD has different operating model. Just go to go with the one you at happy with at the end of the day. |

Pretty standard for trying to trade a watch - they're in business to make money. If you want actual street value, then sell it yourself. If someone gives you more money for your watch, they probably will ask for MSRP for whatever watch you're looking to buy..

In Helsinki not a single AD takes trades!

Sorry not to good with full stops, comas and paragraphs, due to a breakdown and strong tablets. Brain a bit fuzzled so not to good with writing things, I am sure watches of Switzerland may be one of the good guys but not in my experience and heard a couple of other bad stories.

I dealt with a nice chap called Mark at WoS, seemed to have a lot of time for me, etc. On a sad note you're never going to be offered much for used luxury and certainly not in these current times with so many having to part with stuff just to pay bills. |

I've had both good and bad service at that WOS. Nicholas knows his Panerais there though. If it's the woman that I think it is then I steer clear of her.

I was in WOS about 6 months ago in Glasgow with my brother
He bought one of the new ceramic Omega PO's The service we received was 100% top class ! The young guy was right on top of all the models. Even though it was obvious it was my brother who was buying the watch - the sales guy got a few watches out for me to try on when I asked. Its really just down to individual stores for these AD's. We'd previously been to an AD in the Braehead shopping centre the week before. Girl knew nothing about the watches she was selling & was obviously only hired on her looks & size of her chest. Very flirty & I'm sure a lot of guys would buy into that type of "selling technique" but it kind of put us off. |
