PanamaWatches.com Fraud

My worst nightmare has been confirmed. After many phone conversations, and email exchanges I sent funds to the seller only to receive an empty Rolex box via UPS today. The watch was a gift to myself for the years of hard work building my small business, and to celebrate my wedding this upcoming Saturday. I am going to file with the local police, but I am not expecting to get very far. I'm devastated to say the least. I should have known better, and I'm really down and out right now....if anyone has any input please let me know. Thanks - Steve

Wow, scary to say the least. Have you been able to call them after receiving the empty box for an explanation?

Steve,

I knew something wasn't right after I completed my end of the transaction. I paid for overnight shipping, and upon receiving a tracking # discovered that the package was sent UPS ground from Florida to NJ (shipped last Thursday and received this afternoon). The seller will not return any phone calls or emails. I wanted to give this company the benefit of the doubt, but it isn't looking good. The UPS shipment was only insured for $100.00 which threw a red flag as well. I'm so disappointed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the next steps to take?

What a terrible story, I think involving the police immediately is the right thing to do, I hope it works out, how did you pay ? If you used paypal or credit card you can put in a dispute.

The police have been notified, and a good client of mine works for the FBI. I was going to pay via AMEX, but the cost was less for wiring the $. I know I know so stupid on my part...God I feel like such a moron...

I had been looking on the site and saw that it just shows FedEx for shipment so not sure why they would have just sent it USPS. They have a 1-850-221-1338 number to call during business hours.

Blast the webpage through FB, they have a FB add-on?

This seems absurd. Having a look at the prices they look too good to be true... Wire price for a 16610 sub is 3300 usd! ?!

Ok guys,

So I have a Facebook account now, and I friend requested him. I also friend requested all his friends that seem to have legitimate watch businesses as well. Can anyone else help me blast his Facebook page? I run a business as well, and I would never resort to this, but I got ripped off for several thousand. He has had multiple chances to call, email, or text back with a reason why there was an empty box. Thanks - Steve

Good luck getting your funds back. After looking up "Panamawatches.com", it looks like they are hosting from Soci, Italy. The domain was just created about 18 days ago. It looks like it may be a classic scam, a ruse to dupe people out of their money. I feel bad for you, I really do. I hope it works out. You can look them up at "allaboutsite.com". Joined Facebook at same time as he set up domain.

Thanks for the insight. I feel like a total moron because I should have known better. I know he lives in Miami Beach, which I happen to have a home as well there. I'm not giving up trying to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

What makes you so sure he lives in Miami? All of the phone numbers he has listed are what appear to be international numbers. His website domain is in Italy. Most of his friends on FB appear to be in Italy as well. I am on your side, BTW, especially if someone has stolen your money. I have been here on TRF for several years, and have seen it happen far too often.

He or someone who works for him physically shipped the empty box from a shipping store in Miami beach. The phone listed on the website is a Pensacola, FL telephone number. From what everyone has just posted I'm sure it's an international scam...

Tried calling the phone number and someone picked up. When I asked for the person's name and when I could come to the store to meet up it went cold...
