eBay Vendor
Any info on this eBay vendor ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=011 Is this a good deal, or should this be filed under "WATCH OUT" ? Thanks I.V. |

He's probably legit. I'm a little cautious because all his auctions are private and you can't see what other watches he's sold or at what price. There's also 5 days to go on the bidding and the price is already at $3200. Don't expect a bargain on this one.
And you're right. This thread belongs in the WatchOut section. So I moved it there.

The $3200 bid is mine.
I am only skeptical because there was no reserve and the opening bid started at $5.00. Why would a legit vendor take the risk of not posting a minumum reserve for such a great watch ? I.V. |

there are no real 'steals' on ebay -- good items will always get good prices. vendors like this list it at a really small starting bid because it costs less to post something for sale that way -- good luck on the watch, it's a beauty

Some will because they know they have a hot item that will bid itself up. I would hold off on more bids till you're close to the end. Alternatively set yourself a maximum amout you're willing to pay and enter that. If the bidding goes over that, you'll know you wouldn't have gotten it anway.

FWIW, I bought a solid gold Rolex bracelet from these guys and they're legit. No problems to report. The only issue with this seller is if the bidding doesn't go high enough to meet their unpublished minimum, they will pull an item rather than sell it for too low a price

I've bought from them. They've been around eBay for 10 years with a 100% positive feedback for over 21,000 sales.
HOWEVER, watch out for this line: "We offer a seven day unconditional money back guarantee on all purchases." Sound pretty good? What they don't mention is that if you do return an item you will be placed on their blacklist and barred from ever bidding on any of their auctions again. I bought this from them a year or so ago, but returned it when I saw the scratch on the dial just below the coronet, and a very poor bracelet repair. The scratch wasn't visible in their pix because the hands were covering it.

Best Buy does that too, but only for repeat returners.
