Hulk or 50th. anniversary Sub...??
Big question for those Sub fans out there. I'm contemplating a Sub in the near future that will be worn often and eventually handed down to my son. I'm a big fan of the new green dialed "Hulk", but also am looking at a NIB 50th anniversary Sub that someone bought for pure investment value. A certified Rolex dealer owns both. I LOVE the 116610LV (Hulk), but can appreciate the 2k price difference and the possible greater value and collectability of the 16610LV (50th. anniv.) watch. This will be my first, and maybe only Rolex. Any opinions would be appreciated!

If you are getting it for life and to hand down to your son, as you say, I don't see why hypothetical possible greater collectibility of the LV would make any difference. Get the watch you want, end of story. You say you love the LVc, so, that's the answer. With these kinds of purchases, emotions play a big role.

I absolutely love the green ceramic bezel on the Hulk. Also, although we can only speculate as to the future collectibility of the Anniv vs the Hulk I think it is worth nothing that most things advertised or thought to be future collectibles rarely are.
I also wonder what the current model run will be on the Hulk and how long it will be produced... I know there is no stated time or model run, just seems to me like it could be a short one... |

Wow! Thanks for the input and info. They're both beautiful and I'm obviously a fan of the color green on these watches, so I'll likely go with my heart even though it costs more. Thanks everyone.

My opinion only......NOT a fan of the hulk at all. The green is too much. It's like when everyone was buying hunter green vehicles 6 or 7 years ago and it all stopped. That being said, I do own a 50th anniversary sub, and it's my favorite of all of my watches.

50th anniversary hands down. Not a fan of the hulk at all. Don't like the fat lugs and the green dial. In fact i myself am thinking about getting a 50th once my vintage tissot bumper comes back from being overhauled.

HULK all the way, that ceramic bezel is just amazing. It stayed as my only watch for a year, and it goes well every thing you wear and every occasion you are in.

In a perfect world you would buy both and swap the 16610 insert out for a black one (as so many others have already done) and this would give you the perfect Black 16610 w/ a maxi dial, while preserving the Green Aluminum dial. Now for the Green watch, go Sub C all the way, as it is simply a gorgeous watch, and he dial plays off as both Black and Green depending on lighting conditions.

50th anniv will prob appreciate more in value as it's no longer in production, but if you are after a good investment, then watches generally aren't the best vehicle. I like the look of the 50th anniv more, but I love the improvements in the clasp and ceramic bezel of the Hulk. You are experiencing what is commonly called 'the paradox of choice' - the closer two choices are, the harder it is to choose, whereas if you think of it logically, it's really doesn't matter as you cannot make a bad decision as they are both equally fantastic!

16610LV - best of both worlds, combining the classic look w/ a modern touch, it also gives you the flexibility of changing the bezel to a black one if you desire.
