What do you do with your bezel?

This is mostly intended for Sub and SD owners, but can also apply to GMT owners who use the bezel as a simple timer.

Do you use your bezel at all, and if so, do you return it to "12" or just leave it be until the next time you need it?

I tend to leave it until I need a kind of thought break at work. That's when I take a moment to set it (time.nist.gov), wind it and return the bezel to the home position.

I keep my bezels at 12 untill I need to time something. Parking meters, appointments, or other reminders. I use the bezel more often than chrono functions. Plus the Tudor bezel can be used as a 2nd 12 hour timezone.

I use mine for timing...appointments and/or other timing issues. I coach football and we have 10 and 20 minute practice "sessions", that is really helpful.

Same here. Except the GMT doesn't have chrono functions, so that's not an option.

Although come to think on it, my Glycine Airman 9 does have a rotating bezel and a 24 hr hand. But I really don't wear it that often to have to time anything with the bezel. I do sometimes use the chrono because the watch doesn't have a sweep second hand. I hate an immobile watch. I need to see a hand moving to make sure it's still running.

i don't have a sub/sd, but i do have a GMT IIc, and I keep the bezel rotated so that "8" is in the 12 o'clock position. i do this because i am tracking a particular foreign time zone and have the 24 hour hand set to GMT. so i calculate the time zone i am tracking with the bezel. i also time other things with the bezel: parking meters, laundry, etc. when i am done timing i always return the bezel to my default position ("8" at the 12 o'clock position) :-) it really is quite amazing how versatile this analog piece of technology is: it can be used to track 3 time zones (two of which are visible at all times) and it can be used as count down timer...if only they could build in some type of alarm then it would completely duplicate my former casio/nike sport watches!

You can have them to different things.

Or just put them together.

I'm not a bezel-fiddler! But might use it sometimes to time my parking meter when I visit downtown Auckland.

I often find myself timing my lunch breaks. Just point the triangle to the time I left, minute wise, and then I'll know when to head back.

I also time stuff on the grill.

I use mine the same as Dan. Great minds think alike. I use the bezel on the Chronograph more than the actual chronograph functions.

I'm a bezel maniac. I use mine for timing durations of flights, cooking, and a lot of work related activities. I'll use my Daytona chrono function for the same sorts of things on the occasional days that I wear it. The activity of timing things in addtion to telling time are inseparable.

I use my bezel for timing my tea when it is steeping and always return it to the 12:00 position, unless of course I am wearing a chronograph, then I use that.

I keep my GMT 24H hand set at GMT and move the outer dial to indicate whatever secondary time zone I need. When I travel I tend to set my 12 hour hand to local time and the bezel to home time. When at home, I set the bezel to GMT+8 so that I don't get my friends in Shanghai and HKG out of bed too early.
