Is purchasing on ebay recommended or considered taboo?

I have a couple local resellers in Toronto that are reputable, but the prices are still somewhat outrageous. I know you get what you pay for, but I have a hard time resisting some of the very reasonable prices on ebay. Even though I will have to pay taxes + duty, buying in the USA, I still think I am saving quite a bit.

Would even consider traveling to Buffalo or Detroit to buy from reputable resellers, who have solid reps - any recommendations?

Anyway... back to ebay. Any users have experience with KnV Collection on ebay? Or recommend any other web based resellers?

Ideally, would like to purchase a 14k or 18k DATE model. Late enough to have a sapphire crystal and quickset feature....
