I apologize if this has been asked before....

Mireyna,

It's sometimes called a roulette date wheel. The old GMT 6542 also had one. Looks pretty cool.

The alternating red/black date colour is an OPTION. So it is not automatically on ALL DJ's.

The early DJ's from the 1950ies had an all-red date colour, btw.

Oh OK, but why?? Is there a reason for it being like that?

Given there isn't a 0 or 00, the odds playing would be awesome!

Mireyna,

I think it's simply a matter of looks. I believe the new references are RED for odd and BLACK for even. It's my understanding only certain dials are equipped with RED/BLACK wheels.

I seem to recall the GOLD GMT IIc having a GREEN/BLACK wheel? Perhaps someone with that reference can enlighten.

Here is a standard DJ 116200 with red date:

And the ToG comes with it as standard.

I thought it was only the Turn-O-Graph with the red, but it does look cool!
