Why do I love my DSSD so much?
I'm Jason and I have a problem. I think I may love my DSSD too much. I have 2 other Rolex's, a 16610LV and a 16660 matte SD, too small, never get any love. I have several Panerais, maybe get worn once a week total. I have a JLC, a IWC BP and a Omega PO. Same story, between the 3, maybe once a week. What's wrong with me? This has been going on for about 6 months now. Maybe it's the perfect size, the amazing fit and finish, the heft, the thickness? Why do I love my DSSD so much that it vanquishes all other watches?

It can take a beating and the scratches just serve to make it look more brutish?

I feel the same way too, U had a U Serial Sub and once I had the DSSD on I had to have it, I have had mine sine June 23rd and wear it as much as I can, I had my first compliment on it last night, I was kind of surprised.
I do have a urge to get another Rolex, like the GMT II or a PAM, but like you I would not wear it as much due to the DSSD.

Xbox, the 382 is a nice one. I actually have a 305, same case, except in titanium on the way. Should be here on Thursday, we'll see how I like it.

Well my DSSD has sat in my safe for the past 3 months and its been worn 8-10x in the past year mostly by friends. Different strokes for different folks. It's a great watch it just burned me out wearing it daily for 3+ years

Every road leads back to Rolex maybe you should scroll back a few pages on this forum and read the article in Forbes magazine about Rolex...about how you go back to wearing your old reliable Rolex. |

^^Same here, Its been 08 months since I got my Deepsea and its the only Rolex I want to wear, my other Rolex looks so small and thin.
I love it more and more each day.

It's really bizarre, I tried on a DSSD literally on my way to pick up my SD...I though it was too big and may attract to much attention. Ever since I can't get it out of my head, I want one really bad.
I love my SD and worked very hard for it and waited a very long time to get it. I feel if I get the DSSD that it may not ever get worn. So yes I feel your pain....Deep Seas put a spell on you. |

Could it just be the honeymoon, although a protracted one?
Since I got my 14060M back in December 2011, I can hardly get it off my wrist. I still love my others, but Sub has stolen my heart. I still enjoy my Explorer and DJ, but after a week of wear, I'm back to the Sub for usually a month. I am getting better about rotating though. I wore the Explorer and the DJ back to back during the past two weeks.

The DSSD is a very nice piece.
The price is the main issue I have with it. It's a lot more than the Sub and I couldn't justify paying the extra. I say it was big but the lugs don't hang over my wrist. It fills up my whole wrist so I say it's too big to make myself feel better that I didn't get it. The size is so overstated on this forum. People talk about it like it's some bell and ross XXXL. I never weighed my Breitling but I doubt it was too different and I could wear that 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. The funny thing I've found on TRF is if someone has a GMT incoming and the lugs hang over in a big way they get a lot of compliments but a perfectly fitting DSSD gets called big. People should see it in context. |

There was a thread a while back about how someone said his Deep Sea was fake because they never saw that or some thing of the such. For me that's just fine, the only time I actually want any type of recognition is at an AD. Otherwise the watch is for me and if you happen to know then it's ok. Quote:
I think I just got used the weight on my PO, plus I like the tank like feel and look of the DS. |

Great time piece, people do overstate the size. If they don't like the size, go for the Sub C or stick with a 39mm.
There's something for everyone. |

I would say almost every complaint about the size is due to the thickness and not the actual size of the watch. My DSSD isn't my largest watch but its much thicker than my 44mm AP ROO chrono. I have almost 8" wrists so it looks fine on me. I will say it looks goofy when the owner has 6" wrists.

I am in a similar situation- I have a Daytona, GMT II C, TT Sub C and 2 Panerais but keep coming back to the Deepsea! It along with the Daytona are the only two I could never part with
