Finally joined the club!!
It was 2008 when I was having lunch with a friend talking about watches in general. We then walked into a store and a Zenith Open Chronomaster caught my eye! Although I had sticker shock, the watch bug bit me and I was determined to get a high-end watch in the near future.
2010 rolls around, I was checking out the blogs and noticed the Calibre de Cartier. I was determined to purchase that watch no matter what! Although, I could have purchased it then. I did not want to purchase a watch until I "deserved" such reward (e.g. paying off tuition/debt, a job promotion esp. in this economy, and succeeding in a small business deal project). In the meantime, I started to continue to read and to learn about watches from different blogs...including from "The Watch Snob." 2011, I was at a wedding where I met one of the bridemaid's husband, shook his hand and his 116610LN (SS Sub date) caught my eye. It matched went with his suit/attire perfectly! Sept. 2011, I registered onto TRF to learn more about Rolexes. October 22, 2012 - after accomplishing personal goals to where I feel I can reward myself with a watch...I went into an AD with my mind made up in purchasing a SS Sub Date. However, when the sale rep. showed me the TT Black Dial Sub Date (116613LN) I was enchanted by it. After getting a quote, I told the AD that I would be back within the week after I sleep on it. October 23, 2012 - had dinner with some family friends, my mother asked her friend if they had any connections to an AD, the friend took us to AD in which she had a personal contact there. Went in there asking to look at the SS Sub Date and TT Black Dial Sub Date...they didn't have the SS Sub Date (sold out!). Just for the heck of it I asked for the TT Black Serti Sub Date...I was floored by the beauty!! The family friend was able to negotiate a heck of a deal and I put a deposit down on the TT Black Serti Sub Date. October 25, 2012 - after organizing my funds, I just picked up my TT Black Serti Sub Date right now! I took 2 wrist shots, one with flash and one without. |

Beautiful! Congratulations on your first Rolex. I enjoyed reading your story leading up to the purchase. I admire how you had kept it real and only made the purchase when you feel you've earned it. That's very inspiring

Congrats man, a beauty, love the serti dial as it add some bling bling to the subtle black.
