5513 I've got it back at last he heee!!!
Hi All,
Well after possibly the two most long and agonising weeks of my life I have managed to collect my 1966, 5513 Submariner from Rolex Bexley after its service and case refurb and as ever they have done a fantastic job. The only thing now is I'm going to be frightened to wear it . The before and after pics probably do not do it justice, but they have refurbed the lugs to a superb standard after they had been polished round over the years. The two first pics are as it went away followed by 6 after shots. You can see quite clearly in the before pics the rounded lugs and the ding in the top right hand lug. It needed a new crown and stem as it was still sporting its original twin lock crown with just the coronet and no underline and wasn't screwing down quite as it should and I was concerned about water ingress, but now it has a triplock crown and stem, not for the purists I guess, but it will help keep that beautiful dial and hands good for the next 40 years hopefully. As I mentioned in a previous post the Rolex service tech said it had probably not been worn much and possibly had NEVER been serviced before. Total cost was £231 including the £35 age surcharge and VAT, but I was very lucky as a few days after I dropped it off the prices went up £25 on a non date Submariner service. It took five weeks from dropping it off to it being ready followed by the horrible two week wait until I could collect. It will probably be welded to my wrist all weekend. Have a great weekend guys, I know I will |

Mark, what can I say? They did a supurb job!
Bexley is known for it's fantastic work and your example bears witness to that. You have a wonderful example of what a Rolex tool watch is all about, and something the likes of which we will never see again. I would not worry in the slightest about a new crown-quite normal and quite appropriate for a full service. It's heart and soul are now protected. My sincere congrats on a wonderful example. Wear it with pride and know that when you do you are linked to a long and proud heritage. Very well done my friend!!! |
