Is it just me or do others not worry

I read a lot of posts from people about their watches being +/- seconds fast or slow, but I have never bothered to check mine. Does anyone else just set their watch and leave it, I've have three Omega's and never worried and now I have a Rolex and not bothered to check it.

well To be honest, I don't know.
As I only wear my watches on the weekends. all of my collection I have to reset the time/day/date every time I wear it.
so it has never bothered me. the difference start to show after a day or so.

seeing that you have more than 1 watch in your collection, most likely you go through the same phase of adjusting your time/date everytime you wear it

I would get a watch winder but... have you seen the cost of watch winders ?! lol
18+ watch winders = might as well buy another watch

Currently I only have 1950s watches. They stay on the same minute as my iPhone over 48hr period & that's enough for me.

When I get a new watch, I do check it religiously for a few days ... when I'm comfortable that's it's generally within specs, I no longer worry about it, and perhaps do a time check on it each few weeks. Nothing in my life demands the level of accuracy that an average mechanical watch is able to obtain. Work meetings / catching public transport / meeting friends etc ... it's all approximate, and with public transport, the only thing you can count on, is that it'll be late! (at least here in Melb anyways).

I checked mine quite regularly when I first purchased it, mainly out of curiosity and trying to establish a pattern of the behaviour of the watch more than any obsession with timekeeping.

I now know it pretty consistently loses about 1.5 seconds per day so I don't bother checking anymore. i just reset it when I have to adjust the date.

I throw mine on my timegrapher at least once a month to determine service time.

I'm pretty anal about determining how +/- my watches are...If I'm spending big money, I would definitely prefer the watch to be accurate. Obviously, it's an automatic, but I want a watch keeping +/- 5secs/day or better...I want quartz accuracy with my high end automatics or close to it! I'll be the first to admit that I have a problem.

Usually a minute is lost or gained in a weeks time on different ones. Ordinarily don't worry about it.

When I'm at the track then I hack it to Race Control since every second counts then.

I don't bother checking mine.

I usually have my watches looked over by my watchmaker once a year. The watchmaker will put on timing machine and adjust if necessary.

if there's significant deviation (20-30sec plus or minus within 24hrs), on a rolex i service every 5 yrs, i'm not happy.

I'm getting pretty OCD about the timing but what bothers me more is finger prints. I find I'm always polishing it every time I notice a smudge, and yes I know I need help.

I check it when I first purchase a watch to see if it's fast or slow and by how much......mine is about 5 seconds fast in 24 hrs

that's good enough for me. it's not a quartz watch, it's mechanical

better a little fast than a little slow

I think anything more than 15 seconds a day would bother me....in 4 days it would be one minute off

Nothing in my life needs to be timed that accurately. Even a three minute egg is only a guideline. I've never checked for exact +/- but after a few weeks if it's off a little I just reset. As long as It's not making me late for anything than I'm good to go.

It's really not a big deal to me. I have multiple winders that I keep everything on, usually.

Occasionally I'll just set one of my watches on the bar when I get home and it will sit there for a couple of days. If the time is off, I just set it, wind it, and move along.

All of my watches are more accurate than I need them to be. Since I'm not timing an Olympic event or coordinating a land invasion I don't sweat a few seconds here or there.

Once in a while I will do a test, always with a new watch. I can tell you from my experience that you won't really know what it does until you run a test for at least a month of your normal wearing pattern. Iv'e had Rolex that I found to average 1.5 to 2.0 seconds per day after a month or more. Same watches showing three or four on a several day average.

I check mine 86400 times a day just encase I loose or gain a second and checked against my 5 radio controlled atomic clocks. And now with a blue-tooth ear piece internet connection permanately connected to time.nist.gov don't want to be .000005 of a second out.
