Pie Pan Dial
What's the general view on this form of dial? Is it popular?

It's popular to the vintage folks including myself. The condition of your watch looks great, however, the diamonds are aftermarket.

Cheers fellow members, I personally like the vintage look but some people don't. I think diamond dials are done at a request upon purchase? Although this is an original dial? Please advise..

Pie pan dials are pretty subtle appearance wise. I've got one on a 1966 gold DJ and like it, but it's not all that noticeable. To me, pie pans mean vintage. I don't remember when Rolex stopped using them. Probably early 70's.

the dial is original but the diamonds were added by someone other than Rolex, an original Rolex diamond dial has the diamonds set more to the outside and don't have the tritium dots
Rolex doesn't add diamonds upon request.....it's either a diamond dial or not the watch in the picture seems to have slightly smaller diamonds since they are set more inward.....if they were set closer to the outer edge they would look smaller than an original Rolex diamond dial hope that helps |

Who among us doesn't love pie? I think the poser-crowd may not like the vintage clue if they're trying to pass it off as a pricy new watch. But personally I love it.
