Sub Date Malfunction

Hi Guys

Its already 2am in this part of the world, as I am preparing getting to sleep, I noticed that the date in the watch is stucked between 8 and 9. in other words in didnt complety change to 9, whereas in the past its always accurate to change date instantly.

Is there something wrong with this?

If it's a brand new watch it can be due to an excess of oil around the mechanism moving the date disk.

If "old", maybe time for a service.

In both case, you should ask a Rolex watchmaker to have a look.

Just try cycling through an entire month to spread the oil out and observe it next time. If that doesn't work just send it in.

As stated cycle through the dates, with the crown in the second position, for 2 or 3 months.

Happened to me once when my LN was a few months old.

As others here have suggested, I cycled the date wheel a couple of times. It's never happened again.

Thanks for the help guys, atleast I can sleep well now considering that this is a normal phenomenon.

Cycled the dates thru a month, and surprised to find out the date wheel is whabling ( Shaking left to right when turning ) and can literally feel the mechanics in every turn and for the lack of a better word, felt kind of toy like, as compared to my other watches which are smooth as butter, can hardly feel any resistance.

Are all rolex watches suppose to be like this?

Maybe a little bit exaggerating here. but what I meant was when the date change manually it will move slightly left/right, ( Feeling loose ) as oppose to a straight change, one line/direction

There's usually some slack so you may observe a little wobble when manually changing date slowly.

One month old implies warranty is active.

If I were you, I would ask my AD to have a look. He will probably fix the bug easily and rapidly.
