multiple rolex's or diversity in your collection?

im curious to hear what everyones into. since i have a big build and large 8" wrists my tastes have leaned towards the 45mm + for quite some time now. that being said it severly limits my options. example, in rolex im basically only interested in the DSSD. that being said my next purchases will be omega planet ocean 8500, pam 422, dssd, and breitling super avenger. so that got me to thinking how many of you venture out from rolex. from some of the photo's ive seen, a lot of you have multiple of the same model... besides the size issue for me i like to have watches that look a little different.(even though most divers all look very similiar in a way.)

It just depends.

It depends on who you ask.

It depends on what they like.

It depends on what they don't like.

It just depends.

Have you given Panerai any consideration?

Tight now all Rolex but have been considering a PAM. Problem is finding a used one at a good price. They demand ridiculous scratch for what they are.

A few Rolexs, an Omega, an AP, and a couple of Pateks.

Variety is the spice of life! Have you considered a 44mm AP?

JLC is awesome -- my favorite manufacture. I really like Zenith and Patek too.

I am all about the Rolex. Specifically subs. But that is just me. Go with what you like. You are the one who has to wear them and pay for them.
The best collection is the one that YOU put together. Just have fun doing it

I only have one Rolex in my collection so I guess I can say I like diversity!

Buy what you like, not just the name on the dial!

+1.....(minus the 44mm AP, due to size too big on my wrist, no other reason)

Some are Rolex only and others more eclectic in their acquisitions. My own opinion is to try many different brands over time. Always have a few Rolex in my tray, along with Omega, Ball (great watch for the price) and now a Zenith is inbound. In the past also tried a GSAR (very rugged but smallish dial).

That's funny though, don't you own a rather large Panerai?

I buy what I like, and at the moment it's Rolex! Next step might be an AP or a PP, but we'll see ...

Luckily for me the AP roo doesn't really do anything for me. mainly because I'm not to the point of spending $20k on a watch.

$10k ish is about all I'm willing to spend max and even then I have to think on it for a while....

I completely agree. If your are lucky enough to handle this watch, its da bomb!

Here is a picture of my brother-in-laws. Im guessing he has about a 7 1/2 to 8 inch wrist size.

Oops - i didnt see your budget... Pam 422 is a monster(beauty) as well in that $ range! im planning to get an Omega POC 45.5 as well, would recommend that highly - the all steel model is on the heavier side and is probably better suited for bigger wrists(im getting the titanium version)

i have a varied collection but i'm starting to purge my non rolex swiss brands... i'm getting more into japanese divers as of late but after owning other swiss brands along with rolex, the rolex always wins in the swiss rotation.

I have tried some Pams & AP's & I like a few Pateks
But the bottom line for me is Rolex hits the mark squarely like few others can, specifically:
I prefer to wear my watch all day & night
It needs to be happy in water.
It needs to be able to get roughed up a bit & it needs to be in my eyes a potential daily wear.
leather, nylon & even Rubber straps, sometimes are not up to the task.

Besides that over many years of wear, I've become quite fond of the 40mm size.

always looking at other models & brands but my needs consistently bring me back to rolex.

It really comes down to your personal preferences, size wise I can sEe your draw to larger watches, maybe there is an AP diver in your future?

Ps
There is a certain patek w a rubber strap that has been hounding my thoughts.

Rolex, Blancpain and Panerai are my focus, although there are many other brands that I like and have owned in the past...

Have one panerai rest are Rolex. Recently looked at the Omega PO great watch, but I don't get why they made the pushers look like the Daytona with the outer ring that does nothing so that put me off. Really fancied an AP RO, I have small wrists and I think they wear quite big so ill stick with Rolex, can never go wrong with a rollie

AP should definitely be looked at.

The AP 15400 retails for £11,800 atm and having held it at the same time as a Nautilus I think AP could easily price them closer together and get away with it. The Royal Oak is an iconic watch with a beautiful in-house movement. I'd happily wear it with jeans and a tee all the way up to a tux. Not many watches I say that about.
