New Yacht-Masters Price differences
Why is there a price difference of about 2.5K between the new steel and platinum Yacht-Master, 168622, vs. the new steel and platinum blue dial, 116622bl, which lists for about 11.5K?
Is it because the blue dial is so new to the market, and it will go down about 2K a few months from now? Does a blue dial cost that much more than a white dial? |

I doubt that Rolex will ever DECREASE a price on any Rolex. So I am afraid that the price on the new Blue YM is here to stay regardless of supply.

I am not sure. But as in the hulk, dial could be mixed with gold.

The blue dial YM is not a platinum dial. That's why it is less expensive.

The blue dial YM is 2.5K more expensive than the other YM referenced. Both have platinum dials. Difficult at least me to follow as there are so many models out there. That said, I will look at and probably purchase the blue YM when it becomes available at my AD.

The blue YM is definitely less expensive than the platinum dial YM and the blue dial YM does NOT have a platinum dial. The blue YM has a platinum bezel. I have the blue YM, so I think I should know.

I believe the new PT dial retails for $12,350 USD. Only difference is the newer bracelet and I believe the case is a bit more rounded off. THe blue dial is probably awesome in person as I've yet to see one in the DC area so it will be nice to compare

This is my first Rolex purchase, so still learning. I made an error as I confused the difference in prices with smaller sized YM. I just need to go to the AD and see, touch, try on the different models and then comprehend the differences. Seeing photos and reading on the Rolex site/web is fine to get some education, but that is only a start before a new brand purchase for my wants and needs. Thank you for your responses. |

The model you're referencing is a 35mm version , and you compare its price to the new model which is a 40mm version. The new model price is higher because it is a new model and because it have the new bracelet. Compared to the old version 16622 it is 1150$ more, not 2,5k. For this new 2012 YM Rolex added an "entry" model with a non platinum dial, which is the blue one, and with which price difference is 800$ only. |

That can happen when the question starts with bad data.

Guys, as I stated in earlier response, I made a mistake with my understanding of the various YM's. So apologise for the confusion. Now, I do know where I was wrong, and appreciated some of the responses as they were helpful for me.

So in layman's term, which is more expensive in the same 40mm size.
Blue dial/Plat bezel which is not a platinum dial is more money than the Platinum dial/bezel. is this correct. |

16622 Platinum Dial (OLDER Version / 40mm) = 11,200
116622 Blue Dial (NEW 2012 Version / 40mm) = 11,550 116622 Platinum Dial (NEW 2012 Version / 40mm) = 12,350 Not that confusing.
