custom Rolex...OEM?
so i was sitting around playing with my subs today and the thought came to me. What if Rolex allowed you to custom an order from the factory for a premium? Do you guys think that would cheapen the brand?
Would more dial colour selections and bezel colour selections be appealing to you guys? If you could pick the colour of the lume would that be of interest? Just wanted to see what you guys thought. |

I think they do allow it for a price. My AD told me they did!

No they don't. Rolex doesn't do custom orders. You can order a watch how you want it, but you have to design it based on the dials, bezels, and bracelets available for that particular watch head.
For example, no matter how much you may want to, you can't buy an OP or Air King with a Jubilee Bracelet. It just doesn't come that way. |

If they did that, I don't think it would cheapen the brand, because I would assume any customisation would be accompanied by a hefty premium. This would make it even more expensive.

I'd LOVE to customize a Rolex...but not for colors.
I'd have a crownguardless through-hole cased Sub with a matte dial and non-gold surrounds. No date. Sword hands. Dome sapphire crystal. Basically a modern mil-sub.

Dude that would totally kill the aftermarket "market"
I don't think it would cheapen the brand at all. it's an interesting concept though. |

you can custom order to a certain limit, for example.. the limited editions.. lol
thats about as custom as it's going to get.. on the side note, atleast it'll be rare right ? that and the cost keeps it rare and exclusive.. a GMT II in WG for 145k, Wth was i thinking |

When you see for example a COMEX logo on a Rolex. Who put it there? Rolex?
Or a logo of some army. |

There are very few people who rate a custom Rolex - - but the special branch has customized dials before.

Absolute nightmare for service, they would have to have parts for everything they custom made.
