Sell Skyfall Barbour Jacket for profit?
Hi guys,
Thought I would post this here as I know there are some Bond fans. I bought a Barbour Tokito waxed sports jacket last month. I've always wanted a Barbour and this one had some nice features ( leather collar, tweed bits etc. ) it also said "Limited Edition" and so I thought that explained the higher than usual price for a Barbour (£400). Anyway, I got 10% discount so paid £360. As I was paying, the guy said, "this jacket is in the new Bond film - they will go crazy for it when the film comes out". I haven't worn the jacket yet, it still has the tags attached. After looking for pics of it in the film, which I haven't seen yet, I've found that it is selling for over £1000. Now I'm thinking should I sell it and get another Barbour or keep this one that has taken me years to find. What would you do? |

I don't know anything about the appreciation of collectable jackets, but I would probably sell it now.

If you LOVE the jacket I wouldn't sell but by the sounds of things you don't have any really strong feelings...
I'd sell it now while the interest is at it's peak. It may be worth more WAY into the future (100th anniversary of Bond?!) but now is when people are talking about Skyfall. Here's a link to the coat on James Bond Lifestyle if that helps you market it: http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/pr...-sports-jacket I looked at the X to ki to but wasn't a fan, especially with the hood on. I've got a Corbridge which I much prefer and can be had for about £200.

If you can sell it for, just about, three times what you paid I would.

People maybe asking inflated prices but are they getting them?

I would keep the jacket since it sounds like it took you a long time to find the one you liked. You may not find another you like as much. |

As a former garmento (one who's in garment biz- now I'm in shoebizness)...007 good for British apparel & footwear makers........along w/ the Barbour jacket, D.C.'s wearing Crockett & Jones boots, a N. Peal cashmere sweater & All Saints pants.
P.S. sell the jacket.....I personally prefer Barbour's "Sapper" jacket....that's my next one.

I don't know how to do multiple quotes but:
"As a former garmento (one who's in garment biz- now I'm in shoebizness)...007 good for British apparel & footwear makers........along w/ the Barbour jacket, D.C.'s wearing Crockett & Jones boots, a N. Peal cashmere sweater & All Saints pants. P.S. sell the jacket.....I personally prefer Barbour's "Sapper" jacket....that's my next one." Yes, I like the Sapper. "If you like it keep it....cos you'll only pine after it when it's gone" I do, I really like it. "I would sell it to prevent looking like a fan boy and make enough to pay for the next coat!" I worry that I'll feel uncomfortable in it for this reason. |

Off topic - but I've never understood why someone would run out and buy something because some actor, rock singer, athlete or poindexter is wearing, eating, driving or reading it.
But that's just me. Carry on. |

But this is Bond. You wouldn't believe the number of people that would buy a certain watch because it appears in James Bond.

I'd sell it & buy an equally warm jkt with some of the proceeds. I found it just as crazy to hear Heston Blumenthal xmas pud's with an orange in the middle went for daft cash, just because Waitrose couldn't keep up with demand
