Would you buy Herbie for 150k?

Quote:
For sale is an original movie used Herbie, that was used in the old films, Herbie goes to Monte Carlo and Herbie goes Bananas.

It is the only original movie used Herbie in Australia and one of only 7 (from the original 4 classic Disney films) left in private hands around the world, with the other few in museums across Germany, England, Korea and the United States.

I have owned the car for a number of years now and am looking to sell it to a collector or museum where it can be loved and enjoyed.

I have Disney paperwork as provenance and a online photo album with over 200 photos of the car from its film days, to Disney auction, to being discovered in a junkyard with 3 other original herbies and previous owners and the entire restoration process back to Monte carlo specs to every minor detail.

The car was at Walt Disney World for the 40th Anniversary of the Love Bug, with 3 other original Disney Herbie cars. This is where the car was reunited with the actor who played the little boy "Paco" in the film and he signed Herbies glovebox.

Herbie has been in VW Australia's quarterly magazine - June 2010
Unique Cars Magazine - October 2010

It has also made appearances at the;
2010 Sydney International Motor Show
and the Sydney Royal Easter Show as apart of the street parade in 2010.
2010 VW Nationals and many other classic car shows.

The car is rigged with special effects such as the hood moving up and down, flashing head lights and indicators, Head lights look left and right, horn beeps, wipers, and oil/water squirter next to the rear wheel.

The car also comes with its Stunt Chassis which was rigged by Disney with 4 Wheel Steering for its part in the bullfight scene in Herbie Goes Bananas.

Recently an original Back to the Future Delorean car sold for $440,000.00 USD and was auctioned by Profiles in History in the United States.

Please call for more information or to organise a viewing time.

Does it come in red as well? Otherwise it's a big no!

Comeon guys, thought it would bring out some 60's love in you'll;). Plus it can do fun things to your enemies like squirting oil n water from next to the rear wheel.

Btw it's left hand drive so no good here, can someone in the US show it some affection and take it from our Aussie shores, pleasee:)

Would much rather have a DB5 for that price, even without the oil squirter.

If I had too much money I would buy it. I have fond memories of going to the theater to see Herbie.

No but then again if I was a multi millionaire that collected cars I'd be interested. It's probably a decent price as similar cars from other movies tend to go for at least that much. Yea it's just a beetle but the movie was pretty big. It's a pretty iconic movie car and I'm sure the value will go up once the economy turns around. I remember when I was 10-12 one of my ex-step fathers car dealer friends had one of the bat mobiles from the 1970s Adam West batman. It was a piece with a cheesy velvet interior and the car needed major interior, exterior, and mechanical repairs. He gave around $40k for that. The GTO from XXX only sold for around $20k so not all movie cars are worth anything.

No...and, someone around town has a perfect replica of it.

I agree with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, so long as it could actually fly.

No way in heck. Even a car guy like me could find better things to do with $150k that would bring a better return and be more fun to drive like a 69 SS Camaro. Now that is a car
