Watch sale regret
So I sold my day date a few months back and have regretted it ever since. I absolutely loved the watch but it got scratched so easy.... Question is do I buy another 18238 or let it go....I'll mention I've seen a fs 18238 that I like

That's a tough one. I've replaced watches I've come to regret selling before.
In fact my collection right now consists of three that I've rebought. And, now I absolutely know that they are keepers. I say go for it.

You will find more seller's remorse stories on this board than you will find buyer's remorse stories by far.
We really should have a seller's remorse forum, just as a public service.

oh...
Sounds legit. I don't share your experience, but if you sold it because it was a scratch magnet, why replace it? You sold it for a reason that won't change with its replacement. My sales regrets occurred when I sold a watch I liked to fund another I thought I liked better. I replaced two of those. |

I have a 118238 that I rarely wear. I think of selling it all the time. However, when I wear it, I am always glad I have it.
Everyone regrets sales. Just bought another as Daytona after just such an episode. In the process of replacing a Panerai for the same reason (though the Panerai is a different Radiomir than the one I sold). |

You have to get it. I recently flipped my Exp I and it has been driving me crazy!!!!! I haven't changed my signature or avatar because I know it will be in hands again very soon!! Never even dropped it from my home owners coverage. You wanna know why??? Well I will have one back on Friday that I bought straight out. No flip to regret this time. Counting down the days...

I also say GO FOR IT!
I sold around 8-9 timepieces that I enjoyed, Sub, Debaufre TT GMT, my birthyear (1969) Seiko Navigator GMT Auto, Marathon Msar, Seiko Perpetual SBCM023, Seiko 7548 - 700B etc . . . Each time I regretted so much after the sales. I just received my Seiko 7548 - 700B Vintage Diver Pepsi. I am still looking for a TT Debaufre GMT. I am not selling anything from my collection (Except the doubles) because I know I will regret again. So, again, go get it, and keep it. Wear carefully and it won't get scratched that easily. Capt. Serdal

I say go for it... good deals can be had on Day-Dates, especially the 18238 and older models.

My day date (and my other gold models) I'd never sell. Yes, they scratch relatively more easily that a SS watch, but the beauty of gold never diminishes. Can't ever envision ever selling mine.

I have DD President 18038 I have tried to sell twice. Today I am glad I did not sell. For me it is most beautiful gold watch that are. Gold, 18.k. with dark blue jubilee dial .....
Also sold watches, which I regret today.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have the same issue. i have been thinking about selling my 40s tissot bumper for months, but im still thinking that once shes gone, im going to miss her.my reason for wanting to sell it was because i hardly ever wear it(i think its the case size at 35mm that just really doesnt do it for me completly). my original plan was to sell her as soon as she gets overhauled, but now im begining to rethink that. it would be hard to replace it if i did end up letting it go. its currently sitting in my safe until i make up my mind

You only live once. If it is affordable and in your budget then go for it. I have found that if you want a watch and the want will not go away then you will either think about it morning, noon, and night or just bite the bullet and get it. You will definitely be a happier person. Lol

I had a PRISTINE Doxa 750T that I very much regret selling. Haven't been able to find one in similar condition since. I feel your pain.

Thanks for posting to remind me...
I have always said every collection should have a Moon Watch... This is my third...and I haven't worn it in 3 or 4 weeks....so sometimes I think about selling. I know I'd have to buy another soon or later so I better keep it! Oh I say you should buy again... |
