Saturday, what to do?

It's Saturday, overcast, winding, and about 42 degrees. The wife is busy all day, nothing to do around the house, what to do?
Bright idea! I'll call an old highschool buddy and go for 40 mile bike ride. We try a route we've done once before last year. But we took a wrong turn somewhere. So it turned into 51 miles. Felt great once it was over.
Not bad for a couple old bastids.

Good for you. I had every intention of going mountain biking today but it was about the same temp here and I'm off work until Wednesday so I decided to do some work around the house and go Monday when it was a little warmer. After Thanksgiving I need to get out there asap.

I spent most of today diagnosing why the engine cooling fans on an "02 Impala kept cycling on and off even though the coolant temp was only 85C, and why they ran for 5 minutes after engine shutdown.

Bad temp sensor or the low speed fan isn't running/bad relay? :)

I raked leaves for 4 hours. Got blisters on my blisters. :D

It's a 2004 Lemond Victoir with over 10K mikes on it.. Carbon fiber/ ti mix.

Wow, good for you!! I'd love to do a ride like that one day, but I'm afraid I'd get run over. It's spinning class for me (we get quite a few "real" cyclists in those classes.)

Good for you Carolina. It's a great workout without beating up your body.

Very nice bicycle! Is it equipped with Shimano Ultegra? Bet it's light as a feather.

My husband and I used to ride quite a bit - we'd go to the Hotter 'N Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls every summer. That was even one of the reasons we put off having kids - knew it would be tough to carve out the time for those nice long rides. Nowadays, my poor forlorn Cannondale is wasting away in the tool shed. I have hooked up my mountain bike to a trailer to haul the kids, and that's not a bad way to get a workout in much less time! I just have to be satisfied with a slow neighborhood tour and not those endless miles of country roads. And now, I have to wait until the baby is big enough to sit up so she can ride, too.

That's what I thought at first. My scanner indicates steady 185F coolant temp. Trust GM to complicate things. The coolant temp input goes to the BCM, which requests the PCM to ground the #1 fan relay. It commands a ground for 1 second, pauses for 4, then continually repeats. PCM thermal protection maybe? I'll grab a Tech II on Monday to see what's going on.

Right now it's Saturday night and I'm getting mellow.

OK then, if I ever take the plunge and buy a decent bike, I'll know to ask you and Dan! I used to ride about 25 miles/day (years ago) when I lived out in the country. But there is just so much traffic where we are now. I cringe when I see someone on a bike when I'm driving, because many roads here have no extra room.

Took a ride to Strathalbyn, it's about 80 km south of Adelaide , to see the cars in the Adelaide Classic Rally. It was busy at the garage. Nice Vincent.
