YG DayDate too flashy for Sydney??
I will be travelling for a meeting to Sydney on first days of December...
I am just wondering if the YG DayDate might attract too much attention walking around... I will stay close to the Opera House... And of course, if any members are up to a small GTG we could of course meet for dinner or lunch. Cheers Eduardo

Why not ?
Wear what you really want to wear . . . Otherwise you can better put them all in a vault . . . . or sell them . . . ;-) HAGWe & a safe trip |

Actually they are all in a vault... There is only one out with me at anytime..
I could take a SS and YG but I just don't trust hotel safes...to hold one of them while I am out with the other..

No issues in Sydney. Awesome city. How many days will you be there?

Yes, way too flashy for us photophobic Sydney folk. I'll have to mind it for you while you're here.
Seriously though, I'm sure you'll be fine. Just wear it as you would normally. Enjoy your visit. |

If you don't feel like visiting hungry jacks in the early hours of sunday you'll be just fine. Never felt threatened in sydney though some friends of mine were beaten in maroubra without any reason but this could happen in any city.

Dec is about one of the hottest month in summer with very sunny days in NSW. A YG DD would blind everyone within 2 meter radius around you.
LOL I reckon it will be fine if you don't wander around drunk in dark alley while wearing it at night. |

Sydney is good for a DD...
Hardly anyone will notice....there isn't a great many Rolex wearers in Australia I believe, compared to asia and the USA.

I'd wear it.
That YG will look great in that Australian sun. Assuming it's sunny in Australia at this time of year ... |

Sydney is fine.
I'm in Melbourne, and I take the public transport all the time, catching a train into the city everyday, and I have no problem wearing my RG Daytona, or my YG GMT-IIC or my DD. I no longer worry about where I wear them, I'm past the point of caring. They're a watch, they're insured, so I don't worry. |

A good mate of mine in Sydney wears a Submariner and no one has a clue what it is
Also John Beth wears a Patek and previously a YG YM2 around Sydney mind you, he is built like a brick shithouse and would likely tear off the arm of any potential mugger then slow roast and eat it with chillie sauce so you'll be fine

This is Australia. No one cares what's on your wrist ...
... so you can wear what you like.
Heck, I wore my YG DD 118234 at work all day today and the only person who gave it a second look was me! Enjoy your visit to Sydney. You'll have a ball Too bad you're not visiting the real cultural heart of Australia - Melbourne! Kind regards Chris |

On a general note, I wonder if some of us don't over estimate the 'Yellow Gold Effect' (YGE) I was at a dinner party on Saturday and nobody noticed my YG DD (or at least cared enough to say anything) in the 3 or 4 hours I was sitting at a table with 10 other people. And no, I am not disappointed, it's not something I would want to discuss in that situation. A one-to-one discussion with someone who likes and understands watches, would be a totally different scenario and I would be more than happy to do that, but not with 10 increasingly 'happy' individuals, at least one of whom would have had very firm opinions on Rolex's, yellow gold and anything related to the above. I honestly don't think people notice. |
