Engraved Rehaut - Part of Case ?

Let me ask the experts on TRF:

Since the newer Rolexes have the serial number engraved in the rehaut, is the rehaut actually part of the case such that it can never be separated?

Or is the rehaut a separate part which then becomes part of the final assembly, meaning one could disassemble the entire watch and swap out the rehaut?

It's part of the case.

Agree. Rehaut/flange engravings are directly on the case.

I figured it had to be, so that made me wonder how the RSC deals with repairing major case damage, like say a lug that is broken off.

Would they possibly put the old parts into a new case with a random serial number or the new concurrent G series? Or do they have replacement case with an R like the old case stamps between the lugs?

It would really be a game changer for guys who say "I want a random serial number" if all they had to do was ask for a replacement case.

See this thread from 2010 for more details, but all replacement cases start with 4,7xxxxx.
