The Daytona in my opinion is one of the most iconic if not the most iconic watches that ever was or will be. There are many people around the world who are currently on a waiting list for many months or a year or two. At leat in the the Uk who will be paying 10-20% over current retail price quite happily and subsequently the Daytona still holds the most desired universal watch in production today.

Although this may look like a purposely inflammatory thread I think I see the point of the OP.
Pictures on line often do not pay justice to the Daytona.

For instance look at these two pictures, deliberately taken from user widdler1977 (I did not ask for consensus, I hope that is not a problem).

They are both not perfect but in my opinion the Sub still stands out while the bezel (in particular) of the Daytona kind of gives a bad feeling about the watch.

OP, is this what you referred to?

Have you by chance been smoking illegal substances. Maybe you vision is cloudy. the Daytona is the classiest watches rolex makes.

yeah, i guess its a combination of things for me. the graduation marks on the bezel, and maybe the smaller overall size of the watch with the subdials etc. looks really "busy". i dont hate it, just thought i couldnt be the only one.... lol

Look Cheap? Absolutely not.

I admired one yesterday at an AD, the chocolate dial on the brown leather strap.

It exuded luxury.

The look is an acquired taste, as it deviates a lot from any other Rolex model. You'll find a lot of passion for it on TRF. Others are only so-so on the look.

That is the queen of the Daytonas.....the wonderful Zenith Daytona with that great modified movement. Yours is not 'beat up', just well used, and I betcha it keeps pretty good time. Man, what a watch !!

The Daytona really does nothing for me and I'm a chronograph nut.

I own a bunch of cheap ones, but none that are in the luxury class.

When I get around to buying a good chronograph, it will probably be a Omega Speedmaster Professional.

I would love to see an update to the standard Daytona design. Does it look and feel cheap though, no. The weight in the hand is very nice, it's solid. And on the wrist it feels just about perfect.

When it comes to Rolex, I haven't found a model yet that feels like it's cheaply made. I know that some folks don't like the previous hollow link bracelets, but even those felt well made when they are fresh from the factory.
