Breitling Experts -Your advice & knowledge, PLEASE!!

I mostly hang out in the Rolex posts as the wife and I have 7 of their watches, but we are also Breitling owners. A few years ago, I purchased a Breitling Cockpit with a TT steel bracelet. It has been trouble-free watch and keeps great time and is well made..

I bought my Cockpit BNIB for a great price -45% off retail. I quite agree with the posters in other threads that it is a big error to buy a Breitling at retail. You take a big hit after the door closes.

Breitling is also being slammed by some for using "cheap" ETA sourced movements, although they have recently started their own manufacture. Rolex, of course, has all their in-house movements tested by COSC standards, but so does Breitling who even provides the COSC certificate enclosed with their watches.

I have a chance to purchase a BNIB Breitling for Bentley Mark V1 for a 60% discount. I have always been attracted to the Breitling Bentley line, as well as the actual vechicles they represent. I believe the watch should be termed NOS, as I think the one I am interested in was discontinued in 2010. It is the SS Burnt Oak Model with brown croc strap. The chrono functions are all date related with a moon function which I find more useful as I would rarely make use of the various timers found on the other models.

Your advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I searched for any links in the Breitling forum on the Mark V1 with little success.

Nice watch, but with it having the platinum bezel, it was way overpriced. It's no surprised you can get one for 60% off since a lot of grey market sites can't seem to give them away. If you want a different color dial, I know Authentic Watches has all colors available. I'm not a fan of buying grey, but since it's a discontinued watch, it's most likely your only option.

Like anything else, if you have the money and you want it... buy it.
60% off is good and while it might take a while to unload, I think you would not take a huge hit if you want to get rid of it. (assuming no more will be available new at 60% off)

The above poster has a good suggestion as well. Authenticwatches has quite a few of them at great prices and they are a safe seller. (grey market)

I would think 60% is a fair amount off retail. I know in my dealer they did not sell well and were eventually reduced quite a bit. Not even the Bentley owners really bought them.

60% off is a fair price. i remember the retail being some where around that 12 range.
