Yeah, I think it is pretty cool, too.

An old friend - a pipe smoker like I - from the USA sent me this via email.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

A bit of a long read...but this is the history of the photo...from http://www.iowanationalguard.com/Mus...toryPhotos.htm

The human Statue of Liberty photo was taken in August of 1918 at Camp Dodge by the photographers Arthur S. Mole and John D. Thomas from a 60 ft. wood tower, erected solely for that purpose. Over 18,000 soldiers from the 88th Infantry Division were formed on the flat ground near the street currently known as Maintenance Drive, on Camp Dodge. The 88th Division, composed of men from Iowa , Minnesota and the Dakotas, had organized and trained at Camp Dodge prior to their shipment to the War in France in late August of 1918. The armistice, which ended WWI, was signed on Nov 11, 1918.

The real Statue of Liberty, on Bedloe's Island in New York Harbor, measures 305 feet from its foundation to the top of the Torch. The statue formed by 18,000 men at Camp Dodge measured 1,325 feet in length.

This larger size was required to attain the true perspective - the correct proportions - in the shape and size of the "living statue." The number of men in the various parts include: Flame of Torch - 12,000 men, Torch - 2,800, Right Arm - 1,200 men, Body, Head and balance of figure - 2,000 men.

As many as 20 human figure pictures were taken by photographers during the Great War, which was later termed World War One. The photos were used as a public relations vehicle for a nation at war. Other figures include the American Bald Eagle, the Liberty Bell, the U.S. Engineer Corps symbol, Adjutant Generals Corps symbol, and a number of U.S. Army Division patches to include the 34th Infantry Division, then known as the "Sandstorm Division."

Omar Bradley was a young lieutenant stationed at Camp Dodge at the time this photo was taken. We do not know if he was in the photo. Years later, during WWII, General Bradley would achieve the rank of Five Star General.
