Accident - Information Required
I had an accident wearing my Sub-C earlier this afternoon.
The bezel came off when the watch (and I) hit a concrete path below a balcony. I have a few bruises and scrapes, but otherwise will be fine. What I would like to know is if there a piece that goes between the bezel and case? If so what does it look like? |

Can't help much I'm afraid but props for falling off a balcony while wearing a Sub, was it a good party? ;)

Had a more vintage gmt lose its bezel. There was a slim metal ring under and more important a small metal bar. My then ad told me that it was impossible to get these parts and if I couldn't recover them a 5 minute repair would end up in a several hundred dollars service. Thankfully I recovered the innards.
Good luck E |

Yep, you're missing the whole backside with the click spring and ball bearings. Sorry I don't have a picture of it though.

Ouch - hope you are OK
Get the watch to a Rolex Service Centre - there is one in Melbourne and one in Sydney. If you are located elsewhere, a local Rolex dealer may help facilitate getting it there. Else call them direct yourself and ask for advice on how best to send it to them. Even if you find the missing bits, they may not be serviceable. Good luck

Wayne,
Thank you. That is what I was after. I have A, B and C, but appear to be missing D and E (plus H and I). Will keep looking, but there is long glass and trees. At least now I know what I am looking for. Thanks, Brendan Last edited by BQueenan; 22 December 2012 at 05:05 PM.. Reason: Error in description of part missing. |

Clive,
I live in regional NSW, so am unfortunately no where near a Rolex Service Centre. I will be in Brisbane after Christmas, so might have to visit the Authorised Dealer up there (Langfords). The worst part is knowing I will be without it for a while and am looking at a significant bill to repair it. Brendan |

Sorry to hear of your accident the main thing is your OK,watches can be repaired. But with the ceramic its not a DIY job and lucky the insert did not break then your repair bill would be a lot higher.

Glad you're ok, like Padi said, good thin the bezel didn't break (would have cost a lot more!
I can't imagine it being that much to just put it back on, and maybe a few parts, but it is Rolex after all.

Glad you're OK, good luck finding the parts!
But even more important..... We're all still waiting to hear how you came to fall from a balcony!

Thank you for all the kind regards. I will be fine, just a bit sore.
I would like to have a funny or interesting story, but nothing that interesting. I am staying with my in-laws, who live in old farm house. It has a balcony on one side. The ground slops down, increasing in depth as you move along the verandah. I was walking along near the edge when one of the boards gave way (a later inspection showed it was rotten). My leg got caught, and I fell off the balcony. The drop was only about 30 or 40cm, but my leg remained caught as I fell. I landed heavily on the concrete, hurting my elbow (and damaging my Rolex). Anyway I will let everyone know how I get on. |

Ouch, glad you are ok.
That poor Sub looks naked and cold w/o the bezel. |

First of all -- so happy that you are alright. Tumbles of any kind can wreak havoc on ones back. Boy does that Sub ever look add without the bezel. Chalk one up for the Explorer II models as the bezel would not have come off in this situation. One of the many reasons I wear a 16570 is never having to worry about catching or banging the bezel in any way. I hope that yours can be repaired quickly and inexpensively.

However will scratch more than the SubC and doesn't look anywhere near as good imo. I'm assuming the ballbearings, multiple components and movement of the bezel contribute to it being more likely to come off. Then again I have no technical proof and may be completely wrong |
