Anyone into Radio Control (RC)
Just wondering if anyone here into RC. I just started to get into the hobby and like any hobby there is much to learn. Just wanted to start a thread to see what kind of gear you run and any specific brands you like and why. I purchased a Spektrum DX8 to fly my trojan micro plane. I started with a 3ch hobbyzone champ to learn. Now it's just convencing the wife to purchase a 10k jet

I have a few mountain models planes, some gws planes. About half are balsa and the other half foam. I don't fly too often. All my planes I fly are electric. I have one .60 sized gas trainer but nowhere to fly it. I also have an rc10 and tamiya clod buster but neither are running. Lastly I have a rc steam powered boat. I think I may have an electric heli or two stashed somewhere.

I was into nitro cars. I've been thinking about getting back into once my son gets old enough to appreciate the hobby.

I just got my dad and brother a pair of matching indoor rc helos. They are pretty easy to fly and a ton of fun. I'm looking to buy my first outdoor chopper and am looking at this model:
KDS 2.4Ghz 450QS Any thoughts?

My son and I are into RC cars. We love it. Just to caution you that is can be as expensive of a hobby as watch collecting. Lol
Lot of fun though

I have helicopters, gliders and 'e' planes.
Have been flying since '72. Futaba and JR. A great hobby. My son just bought me an AR Drone 2 for Xmas. Its a lot of fun with the twin HD cameras.

I'm into it, but I'm not good at it. I use a DX6i for several Blade Heli's...probably have about 5-6 of them.

Into it, but my Helicopters always ended up the same way... Crashed.
Now what I enjoy most is building model boats that are RC'ed.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent novice helicopter for outdoor use? As stated above I was looking to go with the KDS 2.4Ghz 450QS but I am open to suggestions from the helo experts!

The "hanger" / man cave Me flying a raptor 50 ( some time ago ) I taught myself to fly rc helicopters, this is not the smartest thing to do in the world as learning in a club environment should be cheaper / easier / more fun. But, some clubs are blighted by biffs trying to teach. I fly and teach sailplanes so have some idea ( full size ones ) The best thing to get is a good simulator, for lack of hassle, get the real flight simulator and destroy all the helicopters you want on there. Once you can fly the simulator (very well, in wind) then have a go at the real thing. If you can't fly the sim, you can't fly the real thing. Two things to remember: Simulators are always perfectly trimmed, your model won't be. Simulators don't break, models do. And another thing, simulators don't hurt people, toy helicopters do, frequently. Have fun, safely. Clubs can and do teach the safety side of the hobby well. |

I have a half dozen helis, mainly Gaui and Align 600 size helis.
And about a dozen planes as well. Got back into RC as I had a stroke and needed something to retrain my left hand to work. And now I think about it, could have funded a few rolex with what I have invested in lawn darts. Seriously, the big helis have the most presence!. |

I chase my wife's cats with a small indoor heli.
Passive aggressive fun (when she's not home). |
