Toothpaste vs polywatch
So I'm wanting to polish my plexi's. I'll order some polywatch in the next day or so, but in the meantime I'd actually like to try toothpaste. Has anyone ever used toothpaste before and is there a recommended type. For instance, basic Colgate vs sparkly gel crest.
Thanks Pete |

Yes--don't use a gel.
Actually plain tooth paste works pretty well! I used it pre Polywatch with good results.

Hey, thanks guys! I know I should have searched toothpaste first, but I'm lazy like that. Funny thing is, I remember that lens pen post a week or so back. Even more ironic, I was going through all,of my old Xmas, bday, etc cards and came across $50 from BB. I'm going to head over there after lunch and buy one and give it a shot. Will post pre and post shots if I can figure out how to use my new Sony A57.

Ok, tried the lens pen. I do not believe it is meant to polish out any scratches as it didn't do anything for me. Went to the toothpaste and that seemed to work well.......probably 80% of my scratches are gone. I bet if I worked it longer theni would get better results. Came back with the lenspen after the toothpaste and it pretty much just made the crystal shinier. Gonna get polywatch and go from there.

Toothpaste didnt really do anything on my 372, I'd probably say polywatch!
How are you guys using it? Is there a special procedure or technique lol |

A little bit goes a long way. I apply a small dab to the crystal and polish off in a circular pattern using a microfiber polishing cloth, no pressure needed, stuff works great and quickly.

Just amazoned some polywatch. Should be here in the next couple of days. Will update all on when I use it. I have 3 plexi's to clean up, so ill document them all. They're not bad at all, but you know, just annoying little scuffs here and there.

Grab a tube of Semi Chrome polish. Available at most auto parts stores. It works great on crystals. Below is some before and after shots after some fine sanding and some Semi Chrome.
Same your toothpaste for the teeth!

Actually "Simichrome," a product of Germany. Intended as a general purpose metal polish, but great for polishing hard plastics also.

I usually use the white "tartar control" Colgate paste. Leaves my watches "minty-fresh" all day, also!

It will polish off in 10 - 15 seconds, doesn't take long.

I've never used toothpaste on the crystal but I do floss between links.

Simichrome metal polish is great, so is Maas. After I finish polishing the crystal I use Klasse auto high gloss sealant glaze, which lays down a protective seal making it scratch resistant and more resistant to UV rays and salt water.
I use polywatch as well on ocassion but found these products work better. |

Before and after with Polywatch. It requires a little elbow grease.
