Real Pepsi?
Hi guys. Looking to get a Pepsi gmt2, and I've come across this one:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150960265429#ht_2759wt_922 Although the price is a little high, it also looks like a superb example. My main fear is that since this watch is top dollar, it needs to be completely original as well as clean. I would want the Pepsi insert to be original, or at the very least, a genuine rolex part. Can you fellas cast an eye over this watch and let me know what you think? The image of the black insert worried me, but the seller has a story that the insert is spare and it originally came with the Pepsi insert.... Any comments? Thanks all. It looks good. In any case, the bezel insert is not a too expensive piece.

It is expensive for a GMTII, as there is no much vintage value on those.

It is a pity the little green rolex tag wasn't there as in the bottom corner it would have had the model number 16710 and LN or RB after it. That would show you which bezel the watch originally came with.LN for black and RB for the Pepsi insert. Looks like the black bezel was bought after. Watch look clean but wouldn't know if it is overpriced for your country.

I know Australia is expensive, but $6,810 USD is too much.

Thanks, I'm going to defer and get a 14060M from DavidSW instead. At least I know it's gonna be a good one.

FYI, I purchased a Pepsi from David, and the serial number and warranty card that came with it indicates it was a genuine Pepsi from the factory, not a cobbled up one. If you are still hankering for a Pepsi, David may be able to find you one as he did for me. A great classic Submariner!! Good Luck Hunting! J. Alan |

It seems a bit of a steep price...
