Explorer 114270 Bracelet vs 214270
Has anyone put an Explorer 214270 bracelet on an Explorer 114270? I'm assuming they are both 20mm, but not sure if they are interchangeable. The new bracelets are more robust, so I was thinking of upgrading (I've got a V-series 114270). Is there a downside to mixing and matching like this - changing it from its stock/original form?

The 114270 is 36mm and the 214270 is 39mm, i think the bracelet has a different size too.
So I think it doesn't fit... but i'm no expert... |

Bracelets 77200 and 78690 are both 20mm, so it should work more or less. Size difference between 36 and 39 cases could make it not feet perfectly. The difficulty is to find one. |

Thanks for the replies. Why is it difficult to find a new bracelet? I assumed one could buy one from an AD - is this not true? (I am new to the Rolex world).
What if someone breaks their bracelet and needs a new one? |

You can buy from a Rolex AD, but only if you present the corresponding watch. They'll just accept to sell you a 78690 if you present a 114270. |

This is a bit off topic, but I thought you should know as well. RSC will require you to remove all none Rolex parts and OEM parts not designed for that model (or charge you for them to do it) when you send your watch in for service. If you decide to have it serviced by someone other than RSC to avoid that, you should know that only an AD or independent watchmaker with a Rolex parts account can guarentee that all of the parts used to service your watch are OEM. If a watchmaker does not have a parts account, they will not have access to OEM parts and will most likely use aftermarket parts for the service. Many people customize their watches and have them serviced at different types of establishments. You can decide what's best for yourself, but I thought it was important you know more about the process because it can become a hassle down the road. Some people prefer to keeps things simple. What ever you decide, enjoy your Explorer! |

Have you thought about changing just the clasp... I've read about a few who have swapped their old clasps and are very happy (keep your old clasp for service trips). Still a lot of $$, but you will save a couple thousand too.

This is true. I upgraded my clasp on my Exp II at new. Since it was AD supplied it has a little S on it referring to Service or replacement/not original. I love it! Fits perfectly. Never looked back Nice upgrade IMHO.

I know this is an old thread., but curious if anyone has swapped the clasp and/or bracelet from a 114270 to the newer 214270 with the 77200 bracelet? I'm wondering if I ordered a new bracelet if the end links are the same on both?? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

As above... I know this is an old thread, but is there a definitive answer on wether or not the 77200 works on the 36mm? How about just the clasp?

You should be able to switch the clasp no problem. I've done this with my 214270 and 16710 (thread here). However, something about it just looks off having the newer clasp with the older bracelet/case so after my little experiment I put them back the way they were. Not sure about whether the end links on the new bracelet will fit or not.

Thanks for the info. Without already having the watch with the clasp available it would be an expensive experiment.

I'll say this about the new "solid" bracelets. While there is a lot of bragging value to "solid" center links and the bracelet feels more substantial, ultimately, I think it wears less comfortably than the previous generation hollow center link models.

The differnece in the comfort of the bracelet itself isn't too pronounced, though I prefer the heft of the newer ones. The clasp on the other hand, I think makes a huge difference. I use the easylink all the time and find the old clasp a little sharp at times. But that's my wrist and yours may be totally different. Btw great taste Tom, you've got the same pair as me!

I currently have both the 114270 and the 214270. To my mind the differences between the two bracelets is fairly insignificant so the benefit of "upgrading" would be negligible...but that's just me.
