What is considered as a complication movement?

Is an annual calendar - month, date, day, moonphase with chrono be considered as complicated movement or only perpetual calendar watches?
Should I consider annual calendar movement and chrono movement in separate watches and not together in one?

I guess everything more than hour and minute hands are added complications, for example a date wheel.

I would get a chronograph and a calendar in seperate watches, I don't really see the connection. Although it should be said that PP and VC have some great looking ones.

A complication is a watch with any indication beyond hours, minutes and seconds. Cheers,

Agreed, that is a nice one. The 5270 is very nice too, killer lugs

Vacheron also know how it is done, with a stunning engraved moon

Very nice Daniel but I am still a sucker for the 3970P w/ silver dial--perfect dial, size, balance and feel IMHO!

I have both a chronograph and a complete calendar watch and I like having those two complications separated but I must admit a mix of the two of them is really beautiful as well (in fact, I'd love to have one someday with the two other watches). The trick (for me at least) is to find one that doesn't have a very busy dial.

Spot on my friend! The funny thing is, I've read somewhere that the date wasn't considered a complication anymore given that it was on so many watches, does that mean we must call if a half complication from now on?

Oh yes, what a beauty it is!

Although myself kind of likes this one as well, I'm facing a dilemma right now...

An annual calendar is still considered a complication as far as I know. If I'm not mistaken watches are considered Grandes Complications if they have one or many of the following:

- Perpetual Calendar
- Split-Second Chronograph
- Repeater (Quarter, Five Minute or Minute)
- Equation Of Time
- Tourbillon Escapement (although it's not a complication)

If I missed anything, feel free to tell me...I'm getting lost in all those things!
