Reputable Rolex restorer in Atlanta area?
Over the summer I inherited my Dad's SubMariner 5513 (you can check it out here). Unfortunately, several years ago he replaced the genuine Rolex band (its clasp was damaged) with a generic one and left the original with the jeweller because he didn't think it was worth anything (I can only shake my head). Because of this crime against the Rolex Gods as well as a blemished crystal and a few scratches here and there, I'm on a mission to get it restored to its former glory. My questions:
1. Is it reasonable to require all original parts? I'd like to go original if possible. 2. Are there any reputable Rolex restorers in the Atlanta area, especially ones that people have actually used? 3. How much will it cost? Money is no object for this project, but I want to know a ballpark figure so I can plan accordingly (I'm expecting $1500 at least). I'll need to replace the band and crystal at a bare minimum (likely the bezel too), and get a tune-up of course. 4. Has anybody on here used the restoration services at www.ClassicWatchParts.com? I want to get this thing back to how it was when my Dad walked out of the store with it back in 1966. Thoughts/ideas? -silks |
