Please help me

OK, so here's the back story and my dilemma...

My very first Rolex was a 14060 2 liner. It began a love affair with the brand and quickly spiraled out of control. After a few months of wearing the 14060 I quickly realized it was a bit too small for me. The Oyster bracelet was a pain for me as my wrists swell up quite frequently. As you all know the older bracelets do not allow for quick micro adjustments. It quickly became a nuisance for me. Not long after that I traded my 14060 for a 116610LN, BNIB.

When I received the 116610LN I immediately fell in love with it. The ceramic bezel, glidelock clasp, yum. It had everything I wanted, or so I thought. After a couple of months I realized it was still too small for my wrist. You see, I have pretty big wrists, 7.5 inch, not huge, but not "normal" either. It just didn't feel right. So my sickness quickly took over and I reached out to DavidSW to get it swapped for a DSSD.

Ohhh baby, the DSSD. When it arrived and I cracked open that box it was an "ahhhh" moment. Even my wife who was there when I cracked open the box said, "wow, that's nice". If my wife had commented I thought, "yeah, this is the one". Wrong again. I noticed that after a long days work I would come home and WANT to take my watch off because my wrists were hurting. It was too top heavy, an absolutely beautiful watch, but too top heavy for my liking. I said to myself, "you shouldn't WANT to take your watch off, you should want it to stay on at ALL times" right?

I thought to myself, maybe you're not a "Rolex guy", whatever that means. So I contacted DavidSW yet AGAIN but this time went to the dark side. I had David find me a PAM 112. Bad idea. The watch was VERY nice, but the dial was a bit too plain for my liking, so I called David AGAIN and had him send over a PAM 111 thinking the seconds indicator would make it more "sporty" and more of an everyday watch. WRONG.

At this point I missed my Rolex. Not any particular model, but the Rolex brand in general. They just felt more natural on my wrist. Not to take away anything from the Panerai brand, but they just weren't for me. Who you gonna call? DavidSW of course.

At this point I thought David was certainly going to curse me out, LOL. But being the gentleman he is, he gracefully accepted to buy back the PAM111 for a 16613. YES, a TT 16613 with the beautiful blue/purple dial depending on lighting.

So the 16613 is procured and sent to me. A beautiful example, minty Y serial with lug holes. I wear it for a week and realize I'm not a TT guy. UGH. I know, I'm being impossible. The 16613 is now back to David and he is looking for a GMT II Ceramic.

I think the GMT II Ceramic may be the one for me. It's somewhere in size between a regular Sub and DSSD. It's SS with a bit of flare with the PCL's. I think it has everything I'm looking for.

God I need help. Do you guys think it's the right decision? I know, I know, only I can make that decision, but I would really appreciate any help. God knows I need it. My wife is getting frustrated

I think I'm going mad.

no - what makes you think the 116710LN is the solution when you found 116610LN was too small?

should've gone with a 216570, at least..

I thought the GMT was a little bigger in size that the 116610LN? I could be totally wrong though.

Some argue the lugs are shaped slightly differently...but the watches are basically the same 40mms

The Sub Date C and the GMT IIC are essentially the same size. Perhaps you should try several models (including some Omegas) at an AD to get a better idea of what you would like.

As far as the Rolex bug biting, believe me, it's not unusual, especially on TRF.

Before you keep running through more different models, I would go find some stores which carry different brands and TRY them on before you buy to see what you really want. There are several brands with 42mm or larger which will accommodate your wrist size and I am sure you will find one which you like. Omega for one as was mentioned may be right what you are looking for so take your time.

I ran across the street and tried on the Explorer II and GMT II C. The GMT sang to me, It's the one. The Explorer is nice, but I know I'll get sick of looking at that orange hand. The green on the GMT is subtle and the ceramic bezel is very nice. It sits lower on my wrist and feels extremely comfy.

It's a great watch but dimensionally about the same size as the 116610... The Fifty Fathoms is probably perfect for you.

No offense George but they all seem to "sing to you" for a week or two then you want something different. Not discouraging you from getting a GMTIIc as they are an excellent watch but still think you should go look around at what is in your price range with other models.

No offense taken. I do admit I have an issue when it comes to watches "singing" to me! I guess I like all of them, just don't have the funds to keep all of them ATM. Being rich would solve this problem

I think so. I'm heading back to Tourneau at lunch to try a few more watches on. I know I want a Rolex sports watch, but I'll try on some DJ's, DD's for shiggles.

I think the gmt will be much the same experience as your sub. Have you thought about a dj II? They are bigger then the sports watches you have been looking at and can also be very sporty but also dressy..Check them out at the ad...the new smooth bezel type is just out and they look sweet as do the white gold bezel models which were released a couple years ago.
