It's off to RSC in Dallas
I just send my wife's ladies datejust I purchased a couple weeks back to RSC in Dallas.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it checks out. It's running fast and there is a particle under the acrylic. They said that if the dial had the diamonds added afterwards they won't service the watch unless they can bring it to it's original configuration. I'll keep you posted. Here is a before picture. |

This looks like a possible problem, based on the fact that the hands have lume, which indicates the original dial must've been switched out. Could be a genuine Rolex dial, but maybe not.

I'd be surprised if they work on it with an aftermarket dial.

Well, USPS shows the watch it's still trying to make it's way to the RSC.
I don't know why they offered me "priority shipping" with an expected delivery of Jan 22nd. if it was not going to make it by then. Looks like it's going to be delivered tomorrow........... I hope. I'll keep you posted :) |

The watch made it there yesterday, but the website(USPS) never updated the info. I'll call tomorrow and introduce myself. Make sure they got it and hopefully get an idea on whats gonna happen.

Squeaky wheels gets the oil!
I called RSC today since they had received the watch friday last week. They had not looked at the watch this morning, but a very lovely lady said she will get it done ASAP. About 3 hours later I get a call from RSC. They said the dial is original, but the diamonds were added later by someone. They can do the service and replace the dial with the factory champagne with YG markers. So I am giving them the go ahead. I'll post pictures once I receive it. |

Just make sure you get your original dial back.

I personally don't think this is a good move. The diamonds were probably a huge part of what attracted you to the watch to begin with amongst a sea of similar lady datejusts. I highly doubt that RSC will return the modified dial. Way more likely they will confiscate it. Not to mention that you are going to have an almost $1k repair bill on a watch worth only $2k. Just my opinion, but if it were mine, I would have RSC return it and get it serviced at a local place or with Rikki here on the forum for probably $400-500 and you get to keep the diamonds. |

Rolex will not return an after market dial. But, they will charge full retail for replacement. C

I talked to them a bit ago and they said they wouldn't keep the diamond dial. So I'll keep you posted on that too.
I payed a bit over 1K for the watch, so even if I get it serviced and replaced all parts: Factory Movt Serv-press prf & Crystal, Refinish case and bracelet, Dial y/g markers L, Pair of hands, one second hand, winding crown and clasp, I will end up a bit past 2K out of my pocket. So I think is a fair deal for a watch thats is going to look like new and last for another 30 years plus. The diamond dial was a nice touch, but not the buying point. I am ok if the watch ends up not having them and so is my wife. That's the important part, ha ha. Thank you guys for your advice and suggestions. I knew I had found the right forum when I stumble upon this site :) |

Quick update.
Still waiting for a call back for completion of service from RSC Dallas. I had them price the service getting the diamond dial back and it didn't make sense finically. I accepted the quote with a trade in of the dial and the service rep (The manager actually) was very nice. The dial replacement came out even so that made sense financially. I'll keep you all posted as soon as I get it back. |

Whatever you do, try your best to keep the wife away from the AD while it is in for service. If you can't, check you bank account and credit card statements immediately.
