Funny story... Venting...

On my lunch break today I walked into a Mayors (just to take a look... and then call DavidSW once decided ). I was wearing this by chance.

Name: image.jpg
Views: 380
Size: 113.7 KB

One of their younger staff members (cute girl..) attends me and I ask to see some DJII's I've been considering (blue dial with romans if you're interested). I try it on and we're chatting. While i had the DJII on she asked if she could pick my AP up off of the mat to take a look and i said of course. She starts telling me about how they've been focusing sales efforts on Rolex and Pateks and have dropped a few other brands such as Omega. I then crack a joke about that they should carry AP ... AND she responds with "not sure about that as we only carry premium brands" at which point I bust out laughing thinking she's joking.

Well long story short she wasn't joking... Not going back.. Thanks for listening.

Unfortunately most sales people at watch stores are clueless about the industry. Have only ran into a few well trained savvy ones. A disgrace!!!

Good thing you didn't buy your AP to impress some Schifosa from mayors. I really go into retail chain watch stores to showroom product, never buy.

You'd be surprised. Some of my best deals were from ADs.

Glad she was cute because she clearly doesn't know much about watches. Many businesses, whether it be a high end car dealership or watch store will hire hot women to work there regardless of what they know. While she shouldn't be obligated to know a lot about AP (since they don't sell APs there) she should at least know it's a very high end watch.

Hey new marketing line for AP "When premium brands won't do".

Funny she knew an AP, but didn't think it was premium--typical salesperson at a chain store--sell what you have and bash the rest. Sucker born every minute

Glad you left.

AP is usually behind most magazine covers. She should have some type of idea what they are.

Don't hold it against her, especially if she was cute

she is only as good as the training she received. At least she didn't ask where the battery goes

It's funny she was clueless about AP. It's funnier that she would risk offending a potential customer with such a remark. What do they teach kids these days?

Good point

Hopefully they'll start to carry AP and give great discounts since they're a second tier brand

Not surprised, AD today called the lugs on a Rolex the shoulders. Im used to it now and dont care to point out any more that the bright thing is called the lume and not the shiny shiny.

Well, yes, to be honest AP is higher up in the ranks than Rolex. But they are very different brands. I love both.

Funny - I like it!

Recently at my AD a guy went in to buy a Rolex, he was served by one of the more junior employees who was overheard by the manager telling the customer that Rolexes were really for people who didn't know much about watches!

If she looked like that, I'd give her my AP!
