How big are your wrists for the 42mm ROO? And which is most popular?

I have sub-7 inch wrists (more like 6 3/4) and it's been a long time since I've tested the ROOs... I recall not being able to pull off the Diver probably because it was 44mm.

So how are you smaller wrists able to pull it off? Do you go for the bracelet which appear to be more forgiving or do you special order the short strap?

And which is most popular (or more popular) - the BB, Volcano, Panda, or Safari? I'm not very fond of the Rubberclad and I can't pull off the 44mm ROOs...

There's also a grey on grey dial ROO 42mm... Not sure what it is called.

Thanks for the help... And any pics are welcome to enable!!

Diver is 42mm, just like the Panda, Safari and BB. Diver is just a little bit thinner than the Chronos, but they share the same dimensions.

As far as popular 42mm ROO's, I would say Panda would top the list. IMHO.

I can't speak to whats popular in the ROO line as that's really a personal choice. I will say that I originally had reservations about anything larger than 39mm APs. However I've come to find it comfortable. It wears very differently than a Rolex.

On my 6.5" wrist

You gained weight just to fit the watch to you better?! That's passion!

It's all about personal preference. I have a larger wrist than Mike and Thomas, but I don't like the look of the 42mm ROO Chronos on me. There isn't a wrist size requirement or cutoff. If you like the way it looks, wear it. That is my opinion.

In all seriousness (I know it's not me), I find that the shape of the wrist has much more to do with an acceptable AP fit. My 6.5" wrist has a pretty flat top so the lugs don't overhang much if at all. However I've seen other 6.5" wrists that were rounder and the lugs ran way over the wrists. There's a lot of truth to the dictum, you have to try it on. End of seriousness.

In all seriousness, you are right, Mike. Let's keep the seriousness to a minimum shall we??

I hear the hornbacks are not as forgiving on smaller wrists. Maybe a rubber strap would work out better.

I don't think the length of the strap is the issue as much as the relationship between the strap and lugs.

The one thing I hate about AP are their foldover clasps (deployant and bracelet). They just don't fit small wrists well. I've flipped the clasp around (a la IWC pilot watches) and that is better but still not great. Ultimately I chose the excellent and comfortable Diver/Survivor buckle. With the right tang buckle and short straps, I've found the perfect fit.

I have the following straps for my BB:
- regular hornback on tapered deployant
- regular Diver rubber strap on Diver tang buckle
- short Diver rubber strap on Diver tang buckle
- regular Survivor hornback strap on Survivor tang buckle
- short Survivor hornback strap on Survivor tang buckle

As you can tell, there's a bit of experimentation to get the right combination.

I agree, It's all about your wrist shape.

The length of the strap dictates where the buckle/deployant is centered. The straps are not just shorter. The holes are NOT in the same location. Rubber is definitely more comfortable but the hornbacks look killer and do gradually soften even for the small wristed.

So you can have hornback straps with buckles... In shorter sizes too... Nice. Cost and where to acquire? OEM or aftermarket?

Only OEM for me. Any AD or Boutique can get them for you. As for cost... someone else answer, I'm already embarrassed by what I've picked up.

I feel, personally, that larger watches wear larger on a bracelet. Easier to get by with a larger watch on a strap.

Besides...I thought you were getting the Diver now???

The bracelet is a must have option for the steel APs IMO. They're about $2200 new and run around $1500 used IIRC.

I'm a big guy but have small joints/wrists... 7.25 although my wrist def. got a little smaller recently since i'm on a cut at the moment !

Here is the 42 ROO Panda on my wrist, pic's always make pieces either look BIG or SMALL lol.. Doesn't accurately represent it IMO, but I'd say go for you, you are good !

Here is one of those cases where the AP looks BIG on the wrist.. Looks crazy huge in this pic not sure why, although, I do feel the Bumble bee is bigger than the SS ROO's.. Mike, your thoughts?

Martin, that Panda looks great on the GP(?) strap! By the way, do you have pics of your cars? (sorry for the threadjack).

Thanks Ron.. It's been my DAILY of about 20 watches for the past 3 weeks.. I don't know what it is about it, and it took me so long to actually acquire one (bought so many before that, even though it's what I always wanted) and now I know why.. Just love it

Don't want to derail the thread but here is a quick shot (benz not included, but it's a 13 GLK 350 also Grey)

Well, there's a reason why...its such a handsome piece! Definitely one of my top ROO's. Thanks for the pic Martin, definitely looks like an ill GT2

*end threadjack
