Bye Bye Daytona!

I have decided to part with my Cosmo and keep the LV.The main reason was that I bought the Daytona used and I like to be the first one always.I bought it second hand because as you all know they are almost impossible to get new,and this was a watch that I just had to have. The other reason is because it had a bad ding on one of the lugs that I never got over!(ocd is my undiagnosed diagnosis). Also, on this forum,I have re-aquired my taste for the "simpler" Rolex designs.I had forgoten how beautiful a SS DJ is,being all proud of my Cosmo.Dont get me wrong,I still like it very much, but most probably will get my hands on a brand new one soon in the future(a fat hands, yeah!).For now maybe a new TOG or an Explorer I or a II with a white face!Any opinions?

Go for a GMTIIC for the time being. I love my Daytona and would not trade it for the world, but the truth is as an everyday wearer I do find myself looking for a different type of watch, something with a date and a second hand that is not stationary. I would love to pick up a GMTIIC but the price is too steep for me! It is the perfect watch: an awesome movement, great functionality and an excellent heritage!

Less bling? Simpler design?

I'd suggest you buy an SS Sub Date.

My vote for the GMT IIc! Check it out in person, you won't be disappointed.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I know this is a Rolex Forum and what I am suggesting is heresey but as an everyday watch maybe consider a simpler swiss watch like an omega 2254.50 or an Oris TT1 diver, both would cost you about a 3rd the price of a new SS Sub, and about a 5th of a TOG or GMT, JMHO

I think with the 42mm Daytona on its way we will see many Daytonas appearing for sale.
The GMT IIc is without a doubt the new Rolex must have.

Daytona is useless to me without a date function.
