Pesky Engraving
Latest acquisition, old GM engraving. Being that this is watch is a keeper I knew after a week I would get tired of seeing GM. So, I followed the instructions in the following thread and the engraving is gone:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=171274 Total cost: $9.00 Total Time: 10 Minutes Special thanks to the TRF community far making such projects possible.

Like it was never there. I hate personal engravings on watches. Yuck!

Personally, the watch probably had/has some good history. I would have left it alone. Not like you wear the watch with the back facing up. Just my thought.

I would be more worried about the lugs and all those scratches than the GM logo...

I remember those! They were from a sales contest that GM offered sometime around 2004.....it was for the dealers. If you won the contest you had a choice of a gold president or a submariner and his and hers two tone datejusts. I worked as a finance manager at a Chevy dealer back then.

someone chose the $3500 Sub over $28000 DD. (I am just guessing at the retail back 2004) You should pick the DD ...sell it and get sub and his hers DJs still have extra cash left over |

This site is really great for these kind of reasons. In the past I would have never known you could do that and I would never have dared try, even if somebody told me about it. Having read Larry's piece I still don't think I would have tried it but thanks to the time Armyguy03 has taken to photograph and document his project I would feel much more confident seeing how other people have done it and made the job look so great. Good job on the work. The watch looks great.

It would have bothered me too. The only engravings I'd want to see would be issue marks. Clean job!

I think engraving is nice ,if the watch is staying in the family. My father engraved hiss DD. He put the year he gave it to me and all he put was "To George love dad". I think it really makes it a lot more personal !

Nothing wrong with an engraving if it means something to you. Otherwise brush away!

When I saw the emery paper I thought we were in for a horror show! Solid result though, well done.

Looks good..
You will be much happier with your watch because now it will feel more like it's all "yours"..
