Bane_of_your_life is a dishonest seller. His written word is worth 0 so beware

I wish I could write a positive review but the fact is that this seller made me loose a lot of time and money which makes him totally unreliable.
What happened was that he advertised a watch, a rolex 14060m in mid January.
We started exchanging private messages and agreed on a price in writing.
I came to London from abroad with the purpose of buying the watch, lost money with currency exchanges and in the last minute he decided he wanted an extra 200 pounds.
We see the exchange of messages and he sees the price was agreed in writing and then starts saying he did not read well and ends up not concluding the transaction.
It was very unfortunate. His word (written word) is worth zero. He broke a contract and I lost a lot of time dealing with people like this. The watch is fine and will make some other buyer happy, but beware because this person is totally unreliable and dishonest.
I will not post the private messages here but if necessary to ensure the truth of what I am saying I will make them available instantly.
It's people like this who makes you think twice about buying a watch online. And I even met face to face to assure the transaction would go well. Now imagine that I would transfer the money and then he would say he wanted 200 pounds more? Difficult situation for sure....

I went from Poland to London to meet this guy. Fortunately the trip was very fruitful as I went for professional reasons too and also for fun, of course.
The problem of this is that he will change username and post again for sure, because it is easy to be anonymous here. A guy based in London but from Bangladesh, beware.
The watch, I repeat, was fine, I even went to the local rolex dealer to certify, but it was unbelievable what happened.
Since I am a lawyer I praise a lot the value of written agreements, like everyone of you for sure, and this one was clear as water. An offer, a clear ok from the seller, and my confirmation that from that price, I accept to buy the watch...and the funny thing is that, when the question arose, before we confirmed the messages in his phone, he was starting to get angry at me! Really unpleasant, nervous guy.
After he saw that I was right, by confirmation of private messages, he started saying he did not read well, that it was a mistake, and that he had other potentially interested buyers who would offer more. Ridiculous and without class.
It is this kind of behavior that makes you think that it is not worth to pass by these situations and we might as well buy a new one.
The thing is this watch was discontinued last year so that option is now impossible, I think.
Well, this happened today, so I am still quite angry with the situation, but life goes on and there are much more important things than this unfortunate situations.

I know the type. The count on you not having the deal with you in writing, they make you doubt yourself with their fast talk, they know you traveled a long way and that you don't want to return empty handed.

I would do the same. Its good that you walked away and I'm sure you'll find another such watch.

It is unfortunate that you have to deal with this but many are not as honorable with their words especially over the internet. What was an agreement can change overnight with a restful sleep. Hope you had fun on your trip nonetheless and take care.

He had an unpronounceable name since he is from Bangladesh, but he is based in London.
His username is the one which appears in the title of this thread, the Bane_of_your_life.
The only thing I regret is really the time lost. That is really priceless. Otherwise, it would have been a 100% successful trip, as all the rest went great!
It is now part of the past. Just beware this and similar guys who show lack of class and respect, giving bad reputation to this very honorable and reliable forum.

I agree with you guys about the long time reputable sellers, it is the cheapest solution in the end. Thank you AK797, we really can not get along with this kind of abuse, no matter how bad we would like the watch.
So I will patiently wait for an honest deal.
I am rather new to the forum, I am quite well impressed about how well it works and how fast the information spreads.
I will now patiently wait to post the watch I want on the "Want to Buy section", and for sure I will do business with someone reliable from this forum.
I am learning a lot about watches here.

I made an honest mistake of misreading your counter offer Francisco but you have blown everything out of proportion. You are the one who gave me the runaround and told me to meet Thursday and then meet Saturday afternoon to do transaction but then at 10.30am you tell me I have to go across London and meet you at 12. I tell you what about 1 but that's too late so you propose 11 on Sunday. I even help you find best rate to swap euros and zlotys for £3550 not £3350 and send you screenshot of the reservation yet you don't ask why am I requesting £3550. Even on Friday when I met you at Rolex service centre and mentioned I had someone else waiting at £3550 why didn't you seek to clarify? I think I've wasted enough time responding. That's the whole reason I don't deal with individuals but rather grey dealers. Can't be asked with the hassle.

If you guys agreed on £3350 I don't see how the bold part of your paragraph is relevant. Are we supposed to believe that after agreeing on a certain price you can just change it as you please and tell your buyer it's too bad for him if he doesn't notice? If you misread the price both of you accepted it's your fault, not his and as far as I'm concerned this isn't a way to make you get the amount of money you want for your watch.

In all honesty I'm rather amazed by the fact that you could misread the price you are getting for your watch, especially when we are talking about thousands of pounds. Before trying to trick him into setting another price and wait for his reaction why didn't you try to talk to him about your honest mistake?

A written offer, a written ok from you, my confirmation, my trip from Poland to England to meet you, and then an aborted deal because you wanted 200 pounds more than what you agreed with me in writting. Lack of class. Lack of honesty. Your written word is worth zero. I traveled, I met you in your city, I had the money. You should have done the deal after you confirmed the written agreement in your own cell phone before me, instead of acting nervous and impatient. I had traveled and exchanged already part of the money thus losing some on the commissions! Lack of everything! Plus, your last comments are offensive. Lack of class once again. If I were the seller and had misread the numbers I would have taken the 200 pound loss as my mistake because customer service is more important to me than taking the risk of a tarnished reputation. The customer traveled a great distance to buy a watch and had to exchange money as well. 200 pounds is not worth a tarnished reputation nor is it worth a heated exchange on a public forum. And I certainly would never insult anyone by making derogatory comments about where they were born/came from. Comments like that show low class and sadly once someone makes comments like that on a public internet forum, they can never be taken back because those comments are always out there in cyberspace and available to anyone who wants to do a bit of research. That research could be very bad in the future if the seller ever wants to sell something valuable. ...... Just my humble opinion
