Introduction

Hi there,

Been lurking on here a while in anticipation of a birthday present of a rolex.

Was my Birthday yesterday so I finally feel bound to make an introduction!

As you can see I've joined the 'Keep the Big Hand Running 24/7' club and I've managed to get it perfectly synced with the second hand too!

So far in 2 days it's lost 3 seconds, that's not bad is it?

I know how these threads are useless without pics so here's a quick iPhone shot

Cheers!

Lovely but maybe use the chrono hand to mark the date vs a redundant sec hand.

Welcome to TRF but cannot see the point of running the chronograph 24/7 if its not needed to time anything. It will do no harm other that take a few hours of its total power reserve but you have a sub seconds dial for the seconds anyway.

Happy birthday!
I don't like continuously running the chrono but enjoy that beautiful Daytona as you wish.

Well done on your purchase. Did you have to wait long to buy your Daytona? This point is being discussed in another thread currently active...

Thank you all for such a warm welcome! After a couple of days of wearing this, my main notice was that it's just so damn comfortable! I barely notice it's on and have been able to sleep with it on (with easy link extended) which is something I've never been able to do with other steel bracelet watches simply because they don't feel as well formed to my wrist.

That's true, on my other watch (a cheap $75 Casio Edifice with a Chrono) I tend to keep it centered, somehow on the Daytona I like looking at it and seeing all the subdials at different positions.

Hmm not a bad idea at all! At the moment I'm pretty good just 'knowing' the date but that's definitely one to think about!

Thanks. As I said it was a gift- my parents maid inquiries at the overseas AD in November and the next one that came in had my name on it. Was purchased back in December 2011 (G serial) but only put it on my wrist a couple of days ago.

Thanks! This was a gift and it'll be a long time before I'm able to afford a Rolex with my own money so this will definitely be the main watch of my life time. The only other rolexes I have a real interest in are the EXP II and SubC but personally, I would rather the Daytona than any one of those.

You know you are the first person who ever made me wander what the extra three dials do. What do they do anyways?w

Thanks all of you! Already picked up a few small scratches, and you know what, I don't care at all! It's a stainless steel Oyster case, it's designed to pick up battle scars in protection of the inner mechanism.

Right?

I've put a few dings in mine - not much one can do about it! Enjoy.

Welcome to TRF Frambo! If you want to let your chronograph running it's fine by me as long as you are happy but besides the power reserve that is being affected (as explained by Peter) keep in mind that your watch could probably be more accurate if you don't let it run all the time as the power will go to the regulating organ more directly (mind you, your watch seems pretty accurate to me but you may notice a difference after a couple of days).

I like the fact that this watch was a gift from your parents, not only is it a beautiful timepiece but the sentimental value it has is worth more than anything else, well done and happy belated birthday!

Right?
Boy am I glad to read such a thing, amen to that! Enjoy your beauty and don't mind the scratches, it just means you like your watch and some of them will probably make rather funny stories to tell!
